I have been working at BB&T full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Autonomy, strong incentive package, pension

    Cons

Present themselves as a "customer-centric" organization. Over time, they have become the next big bank to sacrifice reputation for size. As they continue to grow, the continue to lose the foundation that built them. Product pushing and sales demands have now become the norm all while continuing to convince employees and clients we do what is best for the client

    Advice to Management

Revisit history of Wachovia, Bank of America (NationsBank), JP Morgan, Chase, etc. You are doomed to repeat it

I have been working at BB&T part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits and pay are great (when you get them). Lots of internal support for when it comes to processes and procedures.

    Cons

Hours are terrible. I was hired as a 30-hour employee and have averaged between 35-40 hours all year, but I'm still payed for only 30 hours on my vacation weld and I'm paid less than full-time employees on paid holidays. I've requested many times to only work the 30 hours I was hired to work and have been told that's not an option. Also, I was blown off when I brought up vacation and holiday pay. I was scolded for scheduling a doctor appointment when I finally had an afternoon off; I was asked to stay late and when I said I couldn't because of my appointment I was told that I should know better than to make doctors appointments during banking hours.

Aside from that, the culture is becoming very cult-like. There's a creed-like list of beliefs printed at the top of our daily action plan and management keeps referring to internal documents as our, "bible." We're constantly told that every client needs this, that, and whatever and if you question whether it's truly in the clients best interest then you're coached on your sales tactics.

    Advice to Management

Hire some staff. Even some on-call staff or floating staff would be extremely helpful.
