    I worked at BB&T full-time

    Pros

Good benefits. Co-workers are easy to get along with depending on the branch. Good pay. Training is very detailed but not difficult. Customers are friendly and care about you.

    Cons

Very pushy on sales. Manager at Avenues branch is very rude and places blame. All branches are short staffed

    Advice to Management

Hire more people. Fire Avenues manager. Place less pressure on sales, it makes your employees unhappy. Hire individuals who will not leave after 2 months.

I have been working at BB&T (Less than a year)

    Pros

The benefits are nice. The biggest perk being job security. In fact, most people have been there for 20+ years. Salaries are less than competitive but low inflation in immediate area makes it manageable.

    Cons

The incentive was just taken away, I imagine the pension will be gone in a few years as well. Technologically incompetent, way behind their competitors. Company buys growth as opposed to fomenting it organically. Shareholders are number one priority.

    Advice to Management

Technology and not remaining competitive with salaries will be this institutions downfall. I predict they will not adapt in time, be broken and up and sold to the highest bidder.

    I worked at BB&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

BB&T is very involved in the community. The bank has some very intelligent people working for them. Upper management is outstanding and engaging, you can tell they care about their employees. The benefits are some of the best and BB&T honestly has the best online banking platform compared to the competition

    Cons

The bank has a lot of red tape. It is important to understand that one of BB&T’s top priorities is to buy other banks and they can only do this by maintaining their clean, solid image and reputation. This makes it difficult to help some clients. Approvals are needed for many things. The banks values are amazing and encouraging however, there is almost a fear-based culture that could make you nervous that you may do something wrong. The current computer systems are not state-of-the-art and sometimes can cause loan errors or other problems that negatively affect the client.

    Advice to Management

    Continue to invest in technology

    Pros

Bankers hours. You get to have an hour lunch, off all the major holidays and you get 2 weeks of vacation time as a full time employee with the option to purchase an extra 5 days.

    Cons

It's kind of slow to advance from being a teller. My supervisor was not professional at all and immature. When I get a referral the branch banker got the incentive not the tellers. Expect to get shopped by fake customers who will grade how well you do at your job. You have to welcome everyone that walks in the door with a "welcome to bb&t." Like a robot almost. Doesn't come off as sincere at all. And expect to be treated like a child and micromanaged as well.

    Advice to Management

Be more professional and supportive to your co workers that try to sell the products and refer customers.
