    Pros

    Great co-workers
    Great benefits
    Great culture and values

    Cons

Some managers can be very pushy. It is only really an issue if you don't like so much customer contact

    I worked at BB&T part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits! Lovely clients! If you love helping people, this is the place to be! Corporate is very culturally diverse. They will work with you on almost anything.

    Cons

Dispersed branch locations (rural areas) get away with a lot of things they shouldn't be able to. BB&T leaves a very Christian environment that shouldn't be allowed into the workplace. It also encourages certain discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender, and race: all of which I experienced while working for BB&T.

    Advice to Management

You need to conduct more routine examinations into racial discrimination and sexual orientation discrimination. I worked at BB&T for over a year and it was so excruciating that I was FORCED to leave my job at my own will because my managers discriminated against me based on my sexual orientation. I worked at a very busy branch in Georgia and was treated so unfairly based on my sexual orientation and the fact that I speak Spanish. Several tellers were angry that bilingual teller made more money than them, when pay was never discussed with any of them.

    Pros

401k match is great, hours are great

    Cons

Staffing is horrible, limited career opportunities in my area. No employee appreciation.

I have been working at BB&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good work/ life ratio. Decent benefits

    Cons

Dependent on your manager no room for growth within company. Which is strange cause that's one of the core values of the company

    Advice to Management

Don't always go directly by what the manager says about employees. They may just want to keep a good worker for themselves instead of seeing them prosper.

    I worked at BB&T part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Overall the best financial institute I worked for, the people were great and they provided more than enough training and coaching.

    Cons

Only 2 problems I ever had, first they did away with my position. I loved that position very much. It kept me fresh and confident. Second, once my position was dissolved they offered me a few different teller positions at a few different locations, all with varying hours. I chose one and ended up feeling very annoyed by the pushing of sales on accounts.

    Advice to Management

    Bring back the Rovers!

I have been working at BB&T (Less than a year)

    Pros

The benefits are nice. The biggest perk being job security. In fact, most people have been there for 20+ years. Salaries are less than competitive but low inflation in immediate area makes it manageable.

    Cons

The incentive was just taken away, I imagine the pension will be gone in a few years as well. Technologically incompetent, way behind their competitors. Company buys growth as opposed to fomenting it organically. Shareholders are number one priority.

    Advice to Management

Technology and not remaining competitive with salaries will be this institutions downfall. I predict they will not adapt in time, be broken and up and sold to the highest bidder.
