    Pros

Cost of Health Benefits if you are only insuring yourself are low.

    Cons

Gives unrealistic SALES goals; although publicly states they do not have Sales goals. They do not understand the new areas they are in. You do not have any support from back office or upper management. Management from North Carolina has no problem swearing at employees in meetings; very much employ bullying.

    Advice to Management

Research the areas where you buy in the future, see if it's a fit for your culture; also research the laws in that state. You may be able to bully your employees however that does not work with customers.

I have been working at BB&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits, work hours, pension, professional setting

    Cons

Training is insufficient across all job positions' the tuition reimbursement program is a joke and staffing is consistently short - leaving several jobs to be completed by one person and potentially creating safety hazards for employees; compensation could be better given these conditions.

    Advice to Management

Stop taking short cuts!! Staff the branches, provide adequate training for the positions and update your systems so that your employees can perform their duties more efficiently.

    Pros

    Ok pay. Holidays off 9-5

    Cons

They claim there's opportunity for advancement but they're very deceptive in their promotion process. I don't know if it's Bbt as a whole but definitely is the case in East TN. The managers keep their employees in the dark there is little to no training it's kind of a sink or swim kinda thing. The employees under management actually train management because of this. Bbt will hire outside of Bbt before they hire from within. Then other employees are stuck training their "manager". Bbt is very fickle one minute they want one thing the very next minute something completely different. This business is very unorganized and dishonest. Probably due to the lack of properly trained management. Clients get very frustrated with the turn over. I have been with Bbt for 2 yrs and have had 4 management changes and are now looking for the 5. These people they hire have no previous management experience and some have little to no banking experience. Furthermore all the branches are under staffed so if there is someone out on just vacation it's a scramble to get any coverage for a simple lunch let alone if someone calls out. The employees are overwhelmed and feel used. They ask you to work on things above your pay grade to be a "team player" yet when it comes down to it they're just using you until they can find some other tyrant that has no clue what they are doing. Sick time unless your foot down they will take advantage of your kindness. If you're sick or have someone die in your family might as well just stay home don't try and be sweet and torture yourself till they can find coverage because they will convientley not find coverage and make you feel even worse for leaving just to go to the doctor or a funeral. Oh and don't have a miscarriage because they will ask you almost daily after having your doctor's note when you will be coming back.

    Advice to Management

Hire from within and value your current employees. Invest in your current staff. Make sure management is fair and team players are rewarded for going above and beyond. If you are going to hire outside of Bbt then make sure they at least have manager 101 and aren't on some crazy power Trip.

I have been working at BB&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very stable environment. There is tons of institutional knowledge at BB&T. The company STILL has a pension and 401(k). Benefits start immediately. The pay is fair at the company. BB&T strongly pushes it's mission, vision and values consistently. The CEO stands firm on the values and he seems like a fair man.

    Cons

Benefits are expensive. Company has lots of employees who have been in place for decades which makes the company associates resistant to change and hard to advance. Many of my teammates don't even use instant messaging. It can be difficult to advance in some areas because those associates who have been in roles for literally decades. It's also a "gotcha" environment that breeds mediocrity. Ultra conservative and the company is a "follower". As an example the company's mobile app just started allowing (2015) mobile check deposits through the app. Most banks initiated that process many years before. Company has issues with diversity at mid and high levels of management.
