Pros

Big clients with a lot of opportunity to make sometimes groundbreaking, but at least good, national work. As at any shop, there are a lot of smart, great people to work with. At such a big place it's easier to slip through bureaucratic cracks and find them and the right clients to slip ideas under the table to.

Cons

Corporate bureaucracy keeps one hand from knowing what the other is doing. For every step forward interactively and creatively, two steps back resource wise as quarterly profits and SVP bonuses have to be met. Layoffs are truly random. The new, open floor plan is a joke as higher ups are still siloed in their corner offices leaving no private spaces for meetings and client phone calls. No raises unless you threaten to leave and they really do need you. Creative manager just helps out her friends, let's news leak through them and is in over her head.

Pros

While there, you will work with some truly great people (especially in Account Services and Production). The environment is nearly always one of high energy and collaboration. It is a good place to learn about the advertising business.

Cons

- There are a number of huge egos you will inevitably encounter (but that is the advertising business). When you do find yourself up against one, you'll find that your ideas/opinions are frequently downplayed of ignored. - It's a bit too trendy to rely on freelancers and contractors instead of hiring full-time employees. Yes, freelancer/contractors can be a quick fix but experienced employees are the glue that keeps the place together. - You better negotiate a good salary when starting there because raises are few and far between.

Pros

Great work from great people. The slogan is true. It is all about the work. Everyone has one goal to make the best and most effective advertising across all disciplines. But they're some of the nicest people around too.

Cons

You can get lost in the shuffle there. Sometimes you have to raise your hand and get after it. Not a lot of juniors either. If you think you're coming in a managerial role, you're not. You will be expected to do more than get your hands dirty.

Pros

The days and amount of time off were great, people were kind and approachable for the most part. The creative team was great to work with as well as print production. Great learning experience and lots of client exposure.

Cons

All of the great people that I worked with have all been laid off. Not sure who is left and what the future holds for this office of BBDO as they are so tied to Chrysler. Wish them the best though.
