      Amazing learning

      Pros

Fantastic, talented people Opportunity to be an entrepreneur at scale with huge corporate partners

      Cons

Long hours across multiple time zones/continents More consulting than a typical entrepreneur would like A lot of politics and tribal culture among the Managing Director & Partners means people can unfairly be considered 'in' or 'out'

      Huge potential

      Pros

If a high octane, fast moving, intellectually intense opportunity is what you're looking for the buck stops here. There is huge opportunity and need for hungry, eager, colleagues who are capable of clear communication. If you are able to successfully network and imbed yourself across multiple cohorts you will be successful. Benefits are great, but base compensation & bonuses leaves something to be desired. Hands down- I would do without some benefits to have a higher base pay and bonus.

      Cons

Having anywhere from 10-20+ incubator/startups happening out of one center often times you hardly see your colleagues working across other ventures. Sometimes the managing directors promise too much to the corporate partners and deliverables become problematic. Pay scale can be on the lower end especially because BCG Digital Ventures is the global leader in industry. The level of expectations vs pay isn't equal. DV claims they are paying employees competitive rates.. If we gave competitive performance we wouldn't be world class. You almost NEVER hear from the CEO Stefan Gross-Selbeck. He hardly ever has anything to say on global events. Also, don't remember hearing much from him around COVID and left all communications to come from BCG or regional leaders.

      Great People, Great Work

      Pros

      - Amazing talent all around both in DV and working directly with peopel at BCG - Great pay and benefits - know this can vary by role type - Interesting projects and gives you skill set at all levels to be successful - Opportunity to shape this company into what you want as it grow

      Cons

      - 2016-2018 were amazing double and tripe digit growth years and 2019 and 2020 were flat/minimal growth, which stunted some of the enthusiasm, but typical of high growth companies. 2021 already at huge growth and dealing seeing personal growth oppty, massive hiring and great enthusiasm - Tough balance between leaning how to build something versus learning how to execute in a coporate enviroment. I see true startup builders get anixous about the slower pace to launch, but the capabilities you build learning how to get a massive company comfortable and able invest and launch a new business is a skill set you will get no where else - uncertainty in career path - for some there is the clear path to partner, for others with more technical skillsets still trying to determine what is upper management path. - slower path to promotion than BCG, and cannot figure out why this is the case. lets keep promoting people.

Know whaat you're getting into, take what you can and get out

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Great people working *along side* you. If you play your cards right, you will learn a lot about selling and quickly building new products and be able to jump into something better,

      Cons

Every part of your experience comes down to what you get staffed on (who your GM and client are) but it is chaotic either way. Unless you're one of the lucky few that leadership has chosen to champion (read: homogeneously cut-throat and privileged) there is little to no career growth or authority given to your voice. Design has no authority in what get's sold or fundamentally built (don't worry about what or why of a product... you'll only have a say in how it functions/works). You will burn out. Leadership will not care, those you immediately work with or non-venture staff will try to care but you will continually be put in exacerbating situations until you have to leave.

      Amazing place to grow

Mar 15, 2021 - Product Manager in New York, NY

      Pros

Great opportunities to learn new industries and new skills. The product cohort is excellent and the NY office is overall a great group of people. Access to successful corporate partners, great opportunity to meet people you otherwise wouldn't. Overall, an opportunity to wort with an incredibly smart group of people.

      Cons

Like any consulting model, you can't always choose what you work on. If you work to build relationships with different people and stay involved, you have a better chance of finding projects you're interested in.

Design Strategy Emphasis, Weak on Product Build Experience

Apr 1, 2021 - Lead - Experience Designer in Manhattan Beach, CA

      Business Outlook

      Pros

BCG Digital Ventures is an excellent place to gain insight into the way design and business strategy connect. You will be exposed to many different industries and clients. You'll walk away with a lot of real-world experience to draw from. Strategic thinking, business acumen and personal development are highly emphasized.

      Cons

DV doesn't provide strong product build experience. Some designers spend two years without doing a product build, only innovation work. Designers new to the workforce usually have trouble at DV because they don't have the basic work skills yet to self-manage.

      Incredible talent in all levels

      Business Outlook

      Pros

One learns a lot, does a lot, builds a lot. People here seldom stay in their swim lanes, it is a fantastic place for wannabe startup builders who also want the experience of working under a tier 1 consulting firm.

      Cons

Hours and client management – to be expected as being part of BCG. It is better than you'd expect, but worse than what is sold. There are a lot of slides and alignment, but that doesn't take the magic away.
