I worked at BCP as a contractor

    Pros

The producers were great, the work was great, and they were very flexible with my schedule.

    Cons

It took over 6 months to get paid. It was a very small invoice and I had to contact them almost daily to remind them what they owed. I got a lot of BS excuses. Very unprofessional.

    Advice to Management

I would love to keep working for you, if I trusted that you would pay me. If you want freelancers to return, pay them on time.

I worked at BCP (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great if you need work and or want to have direct contact with people to make sales

    Cons

Not transparent about their offer and what they do. Getting a direct answer is like pulling teeth.

    Advice to Management

Just be upfront with what you are doing. No need to waist 7-8 hours of someones time for a "Shadowing interview" Just be upfront and tell us hey we want to test your sales skills in the field. Here is what you are going to be selling, are you good with this ? YES/NO? No cloak and dagger stuff.

I worked at BCP as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good producers, good work and a lot of creative freedom for editors. Free lunch. Happening location. I'm sure I could think of more if I wasn't so upset about not being paid.

    Cons

You are expected to meet their deadlines, but they won't pay you on time. Unresponsive to emails. Really disappointed. Almost 12k owed as if this writing.

    Advice to Management

Respect freelancers and pay on time.

    Pros

Good group of full time staffers on the creative side, a pleasure to work with. They do get good studio work, which is nice creatively. Lunches are paid.

    Cons

You may struggle to get paid, as a freelancer. This is something I was only warned of after taking a gig with them, and it was something I wish I had known beforehand. I was told that although they typically pay freelancers on a net 30 basis, I could be paid on a net 14 day basis if need be. That was something I asked for, and for the first two weeks i was paid in a relatively timely manner. After the job was completed and I was no longer physically there every day, it was like they promptly forgot I existed. I am still owed money for an invoice that was given to them over two months ago, and have been given nothing but the runaround. It has left me with questions about the company's solvency and longevity, where once I would have considered more work or even a staff position there.

It's a shame, because there are good people here and I did enjoy my time working with them, but the extreme difficulty in getting paid for the work is supremely disappointing, and I felt others considering a gig with them should have forewarning of what may happen with their pay. If you can absorb significant delays and don't mind chasing after them constantly, it may not be a huge issue. It has been, for me.

    Advice to Management

Pay your freelancers in a timely manner, or you may find that the pool of available talent willing to work for you becomes very shallow, in a big hurry.
