I worked at BD full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay, benefits, and work-life balance

    Cons

No professional growth opportunities. Finance department is led by unqualified individuals who will do anything to stay at the top and keep you down.

    Advice to Management

Change management tactics and encourage professional skepticism, critical thinking, and work efficiency with your staff. End the hush-hush environment.

I have been working at BD full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Advancement opportunities
-PTO was good for former CareFusion employees, but that's going away with the rest of us.

    Cons

    -Extremely disorganized
-Too large, I do not feel valued as an individual

    Advice to Management

Provide better training and guidelines when you want something done. Maybe a more formalized introductory level or training and building employees skills before putting them on crucial projects.

    Pros

BD University was a wonderful learning experience and offered tools that I use every day in business. The overall effect made BD a highly professional environment and a relatively pleasant place to work. At BD there was a true commitment to work/life balance, especially to young families and people with disabilities. While working there one felt they were making an improvement to someone's daily life.

    Cons

Too much politics and old school network when seeking opportunities and/or advancement. Individulists were isolated and excluded from opportunities, both professionally and socially. The wages were quite low for the region and were only partially offset by the benefits provided. An in-depth analysis of the cost-of-employment should be done before accepting any offers.

    Advice to Management

The formation and the acceptance of cliques is detrimental to the well being of staff and can only harm BD Values. This area of corporate culture needs improvement. The discrimination experienced is not on the basis of race, religion or sex -- it is based on lifestyle choices.

I worked at BD as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Global company which provides a good overall experience, multiple responsibilities in the same position - I loved my work but not the company, convenient office location - close to highways in Mississauga

    Cons

Way too much internal politics, company culture isn't positive any longer in light of recent internal changes, standard benefits - nothing special, frustrated employees with too much workload.

    Advice to Management

Please promote a positive and healthy work environment.
