    Pros

    Collaborative working culture

    Fun team

    Cons

Outside of the core service lines, there are lots of different, small teams, so the working culture can differ across the firm

    Advice to Management

    Too many appraisals

I worked at BDO full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Offer ACA training and able to send trainee to college

    Cons

A lot of politics, bad management. Managers and HRs collude each other. Unfair treatment to junior level positions. Senior manager above include partners are not caring recruitment and human resources, which means that managers can do whatever they want to recruitment, promotion, and cut off of low level of human resource. The working culture is really bad. there is no involvement of semi-senior below staff in planning meeting. No brief from senior or manager before audit execution. Seniors are not willing to train juniors up on the job sometimes. The performance measurement is too frequently which enhanced workload especially in peak season.

    Advice to Management

Partners and senior managers should listen feedback from bottom level

I worked at BDO full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good work life balance.
    Nice social activities.
    Friendly people mostly.

    Cons

Very tight marketing budgets which really restrict opportunities to execute ideas.
Not a very fast paced or pressured environment which can be de-motivating.

    Advice to Management

Hire less staff and increase marketing budgets.

I worked at BDO as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The culture was amazing. There was a spirit of working hard but maintaining a healthy work-life balance. The people were friendly and I felt as if I could approach anyone and be met with a smile, even the partners. There were lots of socials and BDO did everything to make me feel as part of the team. Office location in Baker Street was also positive.

    Cons

HR seemed to organise the whole internship programme a bit poorly. During the first introduction week and the last two days organised by HR there was a lot of information we only received last minute. I wish there was a specific project during the internship I had more responsibility for together with the other interns. I also wish the internship lasted for at least ten weeks, rather than six, to gain more experience.

    Advice to Management

Increase the length of the internship, give interns something work-related to do together, and review the organisation of the introduction week.

I worked at BDO full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Large firm with strong processes in place, most staff are friendly and there was plenty of training available.

    Cons

Within 4 months of starting, having left a secure job, BDO went through a restructure which saw the vast majority of marketing professionals at risk of redundancy.

    Advice to Management

Staff morale was pretty low the entire time I was there, as there were rumors about the restructure, don't recruit new employees three months before you put them at risk of redundancy.
