I have been working at BGB Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is very supportive and looking for you to grow. The team environment is great.

    Cons

Some people seem to think that they should be able to do the minimum and call it a day. Whereas everyone here is so smart and so motivated, the few that join who aren't as motivated are turned off and immediately start complaining.

Others come in, seeing the different culture, where everyone gets to have a say, and immediately try to change it.

There is a reason why this place is so successful, let's not try to instill a culture from the other agency that you just left. If it was that good, you would have stayed there.

    Advice to Management

Continue to do what you are doing

    Pros

The office is beautiful. It is located on a great spot and they have some great amenities but they make you work for tehm

    Cons

No work/life balance. Just because BGB will reimburse your dinner, that doesn't mean it is expected for you to work 12 hours day as a norm

    Advice to Management

Reward the employees that work hard for the business instead of people that you like. Instead of giving HUGE raises to operations(HR, Finance, PM, etc), you should really look at the business at a whole. You put a focus on utilization and you are frowned upon if you aren't billing at 110% yet the people that are rewarded the highest , do not put in half the work. You then wonder why people leave.

I worked at BGB Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are a few good people who are dedicated to their work

    Cons

They really have no idea how agency process works. Absolutely no good creative comes out of this agency which is why they haven’t won a pitch in forever.
Another important thing to note is how cheap the agency is. So many people are severely underpaid and unless you’re one of the few “favorites”, you have to kick and scream to get a promotion. This is probably why there is such a huge turnover rate.

    Advice to Management

Start listening to your employees and actually valuing them if you ever want to grow as an agency.

I have been working at BGB Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Few and far between, but luckily I managed to meet a handful of genuinely nice and talented people.

    Cons

The work is boring and repetitive. Period.

    Not innovative.

    No transparency whatsoever.

Medical calls the shots. The creatives' talents are more or less wasted as they essentially function as glorified pixel pushers for the medical staff.

Not process-oriented. This overall lack of process typically results in late nights, wasted time, energy, resources, and just an overwhelming feeling of frustration.

Work/life balance is something that does not exist at BGB. Late nights and weekend work is not something that should be celebrated. Working long hours does not equate to productivity and it definitely shouldn't be the norm (especially when the work is nothing to write home about).

The sales pitch begins at the interview. Don't fall for it.

    Advice to Management

Be honest when interviewing potential hires about the type of work done at BGB. You're doing your future employees a disservice by leading them on from the beginning.

Establish and apply an agency-wide process. Make work/life balance for your employees a priority.

Pay attention to the commonalities between Glassdoor posts. Address common complaints instead of trying to sweep them under the rug with fake 4 star reviews.

I have been working at BGB Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It’s really difficult to think of a “Pro” that is actually a realistic reason someone would want to work here, Location? Office decor? Free drinks? If you’re an adult and a professional these aren’t the kinds of things that should appeal to you when it comes to deciding your next career move.

    Cons

So many to list and so little space... let’s start at the top, the owners have no idea what is going on at the agency. They listen to a small group of untrustworthy managers and believe whatever they are told. One of them will smile to your face and stab you in the back, the other can barely pull his head out of his computer to acknowledge your existence.

They hired some great people in the past and those people gave either been let go or left because they were too good for the place.

    Advice to Management

Get your head out of your butt. Stop hiring smart people and then refusing to listen to them. It’s why we haven’t won a pitch and we won’t.

I worked at BGB Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Location of office, Salary, and drinks

    Cons

    Almost Everything.

The work they do is BORING. They all look to one person who knows the brand to make the same decisions over and over AND OVER AGAIN. There is nothing exciting about it, everyone knew they let go, and continue to pitch up the same exact ideas over and over and over again. Its why the competitors are killing it compared to the work BGB is doing.

They need to stop the high school environment. Stop hiring peoples friends. Start listening to the new talent. Have the upper management be kind to the new employees. The revolving door is real, they let people treat others poorly and it doesn't even matter to them. Its pretty disgusting. If you want a real chance in this industry SKIP THIS PLACE.

    Advice to Management

HR listen to the employees. The upper management is played out. New Ideas, and friendly people are needed.

I have been working at BGB Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

BGB is the 3rd NYC pharma agency I’ve worked at, and I’ve been here for almost 3 years.

No place is perfect... but relatively speaking, it’s pretty great.

Good benefits, chances to travel, great location, some long-standing relationships with loyal clients, opportunities for person growth and advancement (promotions, etc.) and senior management who cares.

    Cons

All that being said, there have been some downsides to the significant growth the agency has seen over the last few years. Namely, the kind of people that have been hired, particularly those at more junior and mid levels who had limited agency experience before coming here.

Many of them think they deserve a medal for doing the job they were hired to do and treat work like a high school, spending their days sending each other funny videos, complaining, and trash talking their peers and managers for petty reasons, without ever providing constructive feedback. Trust me, it doesn’t go unnoticed.

A few of the worst offenders I knew of have left in the last two months, and I hope that more follow suit so that BGB can hire people with integrity who value the sense of community that the company used to have and can have again.

    Advice to Management

    Get rid of the snakes.
