    Pros

Great place to start your career, don't get to comfortable.

    Cons

Don't appreciate the employee. Duke treats us better than our own company. The pay sucks!!!

I have been working at BHI Energy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Most designers are united in their feelings towards supervisors and the project manager (distrust).

    Cons

They do not care about their employees. All they see are numbers on a spreadsheet. They try to incentive us to get projects out early, but when it comes time to implement the incentive, it goes away. We have to buy our own coffee, and clean water. Happy employees = productive employees, and the project manager doesn't seem to understand that.

    Advice to Management

Stop being so cheap. Spend money on your employees. Keep your word on incentives. Stop with the power trips and listen to the people who make this project possible.

I worked at BHI Energy (More than a year)

    Pros

The money is good and the job is challenging. There is a lot to learn.

    Cons

Job term is far too insistent. Middle management requires improvement. Team leaders do have time to help out and information that is given is too general and not available for questions. Leaving you to guess what they are talking about.

    Advice to Management

Middle Management needs improvement not as helpful as they can be. Instructions that is passed out needs to be more specific.

    Pros

Pretty good pay. a few perks if you stay long enough. Insurance is a joke , they could do better. 401k plans need more than the minimum requirement of a 200 dollar a year maximum that Bartlett contributes to your plan.

    Cons

NO sick time . People come to work with contagious stuff because they have no sick time and infect half the work crew. Only two weeks vac. time a year no matter how long you worked for them. Front line supervisors are pretty much YES men and can't wait to run to upper management to report someone instead of sitting down with employee and working it out. Recuiters promise you anything to get you to job site, then can't seem to remember anything about that later on. Don't have to know much or do much to be hired. I was told a body is a body making money for BHI , by my supervisor .

    Advice to Management

Treat employees as if it was your son/ daughter/ mother working for them, Go back to the old ways of offering benefits, bonus programs sick days ect. Make BHI a good place to work again

    Pros

You meet so many different types of people. You travel and see so many different places and learn so many things about the plants, people, and basically broaden your professional network

    Cons

always looking for work. No consistency. you always have to stay on the recruiters to make sure everything is going as it should be

    Pros

After you top out your rate you can make decent money.

    Cons

Bartlett does not care about families. If you were a new employee and needed insurance for your family you would actually have to give them money in addition to your paycheck. The starting rate does not even cover the family insurance premium. You are only a number and the company does not care about anyone. They are simply a workforce facilitator to insulate the hiring company from co-employment responsibilities.

    Advice to Management

Wake up, take care of your employees, offer a decent health package that is not catastrophic insurance. Stop burning bridges or black balling people when they find another job,

I worked at BHI Energy (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent working condition at Port Saint Lucie, FL. I worked on Existing Generator, Boiler Area, collected field data on Platforms and completed structural design of Containment area. However, BHI did not have adequate budget to complete drawings at Louisiana. So we had to leave construction site.

    Cons

Budget approval is needed well ahead of design work. In addition, we need to work on GTSTRUDL or PDSTRUDL computer system prior to sizing of members for platform supports including on site verification of clearances.

    Advice to Management

The completion of work with the help of detail design should require a minimum of six months budget for two engineers. This needs to be ensured from client.

    Pros

Money and a great group of guys to work with

    Cons

Upper management tells you who to lay off they don't ask the managers who to lay off they take it on their own

    Advice to Management

Keep the hands that have kept you afloat and not get rid of them and bring in hands from other failing districts

    Pros

Travel pay and per diem, 72 to 84 hours a week while working about 6 months a year and decent unemployment pay when not.

    Cons

The medical benefits are not that good and their expensive. They are slow to pay bonuses.

    Advice to Management

Get faster paying the bonuses. Also get the advance paychecks out faster. Some of the plants are slow.
