Nobody except for the cooks in the back really have a station they have to man at all times. This means that I am able to perform multiple tasks that need to get done, and not ever really get bored during the day.
I get a ten minute break to sit and eat during my shift, which includes a free bagel with cream cheese if I want. Also, there's an employee discount.
Loyalty and hard work are rewarded in the form of a raise.
The owner and manager are not above stepping in when extra help is needed.
Not too many. However, I will say this job is not for everyone. There are plenty of standards and appearances that need to be kept up at all times, and those who don't work in the back are expected to drop whatever they're doing as soon as a customer walks in the door to get to the cash register. Many tasks may not get done by the end of one's shift because of constant interruptions.
Fast paced and stressful during busy hours, which is normal for any restaurant.
Advice to Management
Keep doing what you're doing. Try to stay on top of things, as usual, and don't let things slide that the store owner wouldn't. New hires may get contradictory information from coworkers and not realize that they've actually made a mistake.

A lot of opportunity for advancement at the store level. I was promoted twice during the time I worked there. Corporate managers very personable and approachable.
Schedule changes week to week. Hours vary. I sometimes had to be at work at 2 or 3 am to bake bagels, sometimes at 5 am to open the store and sometimes worked afternoon/evening hours to close store.

There's several pros. First, I loved that it was in a small space. I felt like I didn't have to worry about trekking to some far away land to get a single task done. Second, I had my first encounter with customer service, and in all honesty still use all of the same techniques I learned at B.A.B.. Third, I learned how to multi-task like a complete pro, as well as learning a ton about every facet of the food industry on a small scale. Something that not many people can ask for, but could definitely use.
The one and only down side was one of the pros. Although I loved the small workspace, at times it was hectic getting around two co workers during the lunch rush.
