I have been working at BJC HealthCare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, upper management somewhat aligned with the workforce, reasonably secure position.

    Cons

Culture is slow paced and resistant change, high turnover across departments leaving many teams understaffed and overworked.

I have been working at BJC HealthCare full-time

    Pros

Awesome benefits, cheerful coworkers, pleasant professional atmosphere

    Cons

Non qualified management hired more than one time. Training is insufficient - " on the job" by fellow coworkers and management doesn't know how to do our job. HR is not interested in hearing suggestions for improvement or even questions about policies. Department is a constant revolving door . This makes it very hard for those who remain working to not feel pressured to pick up additional shifts. Difficult to get time off. Cannot trade shifts if there are open shifts available in other areas. Work life balance is what BJC preaches but they do not practice it.
Once in patient access department, difficult to transfer out of department due to being thought of as only a patient access representative. Without a 4 year degree they do not recognize you as a valuable employee outside of your current position. Experience in past jobs (supervisor, other skills , etc ) is not recognized.
    Raises are pennies a year.
Only clinical staff are offered bonuses for picking up shifts, even though clinical staff cannot do their job without us.

    Advice to Management

They don't want any advice, they think they know it all.

    Pros

Good benefits, market pay, large system allows for upward mobility.

    Cons

Merit increases are not tied to tangible performance for non-clinical staff. Large system results in slow decision making processes.
