I worked at BJC HealthCare (More than a year)

    Pros

Extended education benefits, employee wellness initiatives, small cafeteria with healthy choices, great growth opportunities, opportunities to work with multiple departments, central location, flexible schedules, extremely competitive salaries

    Cons

Poor management, shared parking garage, it took months to go from submitting application to starting job (March to September), not all positions had career paths to move forward into, over crowding of workspace

    Advice to Management

Don't take so long to post jobs, start the interview process and hire employees. Make sure that managers are capable in people management before they are moved into management positions. Do not hire employees under one manager and change them to a new manager without their knowledge on their first day.

I have been working at BJC HealthCare as an intern (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Being able to have a job and I do not have to go to St. Louis. No parking has to be paid. I can count on getting a pay check every two weeks.

    Cons

Some benefits have decreased from previously and the wages seem to be at a freeze. Working understaffed and noted will not be hiring for a while.

    Advice to Management

I don't have any idea who they are, it would be great to see someone on a local level surveying areas and interacting with staff. My immediate supervisor is great with communication.

I worked at BJC HealthCare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, reasonable pay. Many long term employees who are dedicated and care. Job security is very high.

    Cons

Pretty conservative culture. Not very aggressive about handling poor performers - which means better performer pick up slack. Annual increases don't truly reflect merit, etc. so higher performers often get the short stick. Of course this is off set in large part by the job security.

    Advice to Management

Provide more incentives both financially and otherwise for higher performers.
