I have been working at BJC HealthCare full-time

    Pros

    Tremendously supportive, progressive and professional.

    Cons

In some instances, significantly behind the competition in terms of technology which can be challenging. Additionally, decision-making can often be swayed too heavily by political manipulation although that's often a reality of the healthcare industry.

    Advice to Management

Push harder on collaborative relationships now as opposed to continually giving in to maintain peaceful relations. I fear we may be setting a precedent that may have the potential to cause significant harm in the future.

I have been working at BJC HealthCare full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

All co-workers and various levels of management are helpful and genuinely invested in helping you be successful. Hard work is expected, but manageable. BJC Healthcare has been a very positive work experience.

    Cons

Limited office space due to rapid growth

    Advice to Management

Always make time for weekly 1-on-1's with employees

I worked at BJC HealthCare full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Interesting projects. Good benefits. Great coworkers. Good management and healthy work environment. Nice retirement plan and healthcare options, multiple choices for dental and health care.

    Cons

Interesting projects, but you get little choice of what you work on.
Don't always keep the best workers, and there is little enticement to keep those that are well educated or experienced to stay. At times I have seen great folks asked to not let them have the door hit them on the way out.

    Advice to Management

Keep those that have experience and knowledge. Those that are younger may be cheaper but the quality of what you get is what you are paying for.

I have been working at BJC HealthCare (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Dynamic environment; smart, capable co-workers; strong leadership; outstanding commitment to mission. The work environment is challenging and demanding, but highly rewarding.

    Cons

Sometimes slow decision making. This organization is complex (more an observation than a "con".) Entitlement mentality among many workers; blame the organization for everything bad in their lives. :(

    Advice to Management

Continue to be an internationally recognized health system. Be courageous. Take action with poor performers and reward/recognize/pay attention to your great ones!

    Pros

Great exposure to real data problems. They treat you as an equal to the other full time employees and are very flexible with school schedules.

    Cons

There are some slow periods between projects, but I think it had a lot to do with a key person leaving the company (bad timing for me).
