I worked at BKD (More than a year)

    Pros

Great technical experience, quality training, and access to information and preparation resources. Strong core values and leadership from the national office.

    Cons

Very poor leadership and management particularly at the senior manager and partner levels. They are completely clueless of the Dallas tax service market and its competitive employment opportunities just about on every corner. Emphasis and effort to improve culture is non-existent. Employees, particularly staff and seniors, are extremely unappreciated working brutal hours (even compared to most public accounting firms) for uncompetitive salaries and raises and absolutely zero bonus. It is one of, if not the worst branches of BKD. The attitude of the partners is grossly elitist and the poor performance of the location always is blamed on the poor quality of staff and seniors. Don't get too attached to any of your peers there. The turnover consistent and constant.

    Advice to Management

None. They have been given plenty of honest feedback and constructive criticism especially during the exit interviews with former employees. Same practices reside until they exit.

I have been working at BKD (Less than a year)

    Pros

BKD has a great mentoring program.

    Cons

The firm is lacking experienced in-charges in some of the industries.

I worked at BKD (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours, CPE & trainng support

    Cons

Extreme amounts of travel, very long hours, job-first culture

    Advice to Management

Improve the work-life balance and amounts of travel, otherwise your turnover will continue to be high

    I worked at BKD full-time

    Pros

Great experience and knowledge learned. The knowledge gained will get you far in your career. Great opportunity to meet a lot of people in different companies which expands your network.

    Cons

The environment was mediocre therefore it made it pretty hard to get through the days. Travel also isn't as glamorous as it sounds. All conference rooms look the same regardless of what state you're in. If you're traveling for work, you're definitely not out having fun.

    Advice to Management

Work on the fun at the workplace. Pay higher wages. When you brake down your hourly, you make more as a bartender.

    Pros

Small enough to gain good experience and see a lot of different returns and see the full cycle of it.

    Cons

There are no bonuses. It takes away a lot of the extra incentive during busy season. Also, there is little room to negotiate salary.
