I have been working at BKV full-time

    Pros

Tons of industry training, great benefits and an encouraging and supportive environment. Hard work does not go unnoticed, which can be rare to find in a company.

    Cons

    Outdated technology and office environment.

I worked at BKV full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A mid-sized agency gives you the flexibility to work on multiple channels and accounts as client work allows, while avoiding the bureaucracy of a huge company. In my time at BKV, I was afforded endless growth opportunities including attending relevant conferences and training, promotions and taking on additional clients. Upper management was receptive to feedback from all levels, supportive of innovation and willing to evolve to fit the needs of employees and clients.

    Cons

As with any agency, growth and opportunities can be limited by client work, so employee experiences vary. BKV's business development team does a great job of looking for new opportunities for the whole agency to attract and retain talent. Otherwise, I just wish you had an office in the city I moved to!

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing to increase employee satisfaction. People are happy at BKV - but what I've noticed is that people that leave aren't at their next job long, and my impression has been that the grass isn't always greener. The grass is very green at BKV, and the more that employees realize how well they are looked out for, the longer they will stick around doing good work for you.

    Pros

I really enjoyed my tenure at BKV. I worked with some of the smartest, hardest working people here. We worked hard and we played hard. Best work life balance of any company I've ever worked for.

    Cons

The only con I can think of the high turnover rate in the account executive dept.

    Jul 25, 2016 – Senior Recruiter

It is not unusual to have ebbs and flows of talent that come in and out an agency. The nature of our industry is fast-paced and dynamic, which is not for everybody. It is difficult to combat people ... More

Location - right across from Lenox Mall

I worked at BKV full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Smart, competent and creative people in the middle. Not the worst place (culturally speaking) that I have ever worked.

    Cons

Don't let the fun/hip decor of the office fool you. They're a one-trick dinosaur. Leadership is living in 1987 and doesn't have a firm grasp on what's happening or important in (direct marketing) today. Still clinging to the antiquated "account service" team model where account supervisors/managers simply waitress clients requests rather than providing thought leadership and/or strategic creative leadership. And speaking of creative leadership - now that the former CCO is gone - is an empty chair at best... ineffectual and incapable of creative abstract thinking or true creative leadership. Instead just parroting what has been recently read from someone else's twitter feed. But the PRIMARY con is the leadership at the top who have no vision, does not value or engage the competent people they have and allows the tail to wag the dog.

    Advice to Management

Oust your senior management team and make way for some new blood with vision, drive and passion. Let go of the (digital) media. It's dying. Expand your service offering. Stop saying you're a "fully integrated agency" when you are not... because nobody is. That's just saying youre a swill army knife that does a lot of things... but none of them really well. Dont be the toothpick! Plant a flag. Know your audience and choose your clients rather than letting them choose you.

I have been working at BKV part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people and ability to own a lot of great projects and do some awesome work.

    Cons

Disconnect between upper management and underpaid. Many people leave making at minimum, 20% more at other agencies.

    Advice to Management

Get to know people below the Manager level and find out who are the workers and who is coasting. Try to keep the high-achievers. Show appreciation outside of your Directors.

    Pros

BKV has a great team of account executives and media managers. It's an agency so things are pretty fast paced, but the company knows how to have fun. I learned a lot during my time there.

    Cons

Can't really pick out any cons here.
