    Pros

If you know how to play the game, this is the place for you.

    Cons

Sales people have the last word, support staff needs to follow all instructions - dogs listen to masters.

    Advice to Management

There are always two side stories.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at BMC Software full-time

    Pros

Decent salary. Some managers allow working from home. Work hours were flexible.

    Cons

Turned into a mega sweatshop before I left, but it was mainframe so YMMV. Heard it's turned even worse since they went private.

    Advice to Management

If you want to encourage employees to innovate you may want to actually fund new development with money rather than stolen resources from other projects.

I have been working at BMC Software full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you like Donald Trump, this is the place for you. His style is what BMC execs would consider nuanced and sophisticated.

    Cons

Most of the executive team appears to have graduated from Donald Trump university. There's a reason why this company is dying.

    Advice to Management

A more ridiculous group of execs is hard to find. So no advice for them.

    Pros

Good pay, benefits and have some really good people

    Cons

Management only looks at product lines they know and forget the others. No plans to assist even though the one they are ignoring is the top product and don't seem to care

    Advice to Management

Have given it and pretty much told to put my head down and do the the work

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at BMC Software (Less than a year)

    Pros

Reasonably competitive salary combined with remote work opportunities allows for some good flexibility when having a young family. Remote work options may be less welcome now than when I was there.

    Cons

BMC is an old-school bulky machine that pivots slowly. The company had recently been acquired when I was there and was trying to implement some change, but with many layers of management, what I was used to doing in 1-2 weeks at other companies took 5-6 weeks . Almost the entire demand marketing team has turned over since leaving. If you have an entrepreneurial nature, this is a tough place to work.

    Advice to Management

Walk the talk when saying you want to be more start-up in nature.

    Pros

Stay ahead of technology, motivating managers.

    Cons

Try to get work done with fewer employees. So work load is always heavy.
