I worked at BMI Research full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Flexible hours and great office location.

    Cons

The reviews shared below are very correct. There is a lot of disdain and intimidation towards females and people of color. During my time at BMI, I saw first hand how racist and bigoted they could be with me. The manager was the biggest source of this behavior. The manager also carries on multiple dating relationships with the females within the firm. If you're willing to date him, you may go far, but your STD status...

    Advice to Management

Stop setting an environment that caters to bullying.

I have been working at BMI Research full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great location, if you live in Brooklyn, Staten Island or Hoboken Strong benefits program since we are on Fitch's benefits Good work / life balance...... never see anyone in the office past 6:00pm (and that is a stretch) No weekend emails / call

    Cons

Sometimes it feels like BMI is the forgotten step-child of Fitch Pay is abysmal for quality of work expected. This leads to high turnover No career path or training for management positions No communication from sr. management or between locations There is no strong company culture

    Advice to Management

Communication and transparency are crucial. This is especially important while we are merging with Fitch Information Solutions. People are scared they are going to lose their jobs.

I worked at BMI Research full-time for less than a year

    Pros

BMI Research provides a good starting point to boost yourself to other companies. Spectacular office and great benefits.

    Cons

The pay is abysmal for an analyst. The manager of the research team in New York is notoriously difficult to work with and is a micromanager. His bullying attitude has resulted in massive turnover and even a panic attack in several employees. He is close with upper management so this trend will likely go unchanged.

    Advice to Management

Treat your analysts like humans and maybe the turnover wont be as low

I worked at BMI Research full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Corporate environment- chance to learn the ropes Get to work with big names in the industry If you don't have prior sales experience, it's good exposure Research team is excellent globally

    Cons

Lack of clear, concise and uniform communication between departments Most people feel unappreciated as they are underpaid Revolving door environment, terrible retention rate They tend to overwork people making them wear "too many hats" burning them out

    Advice to Management

Pay people what they deserve Invest in your employees. Forget the "I'll invest on you once retention rates improve" mentality - spend on better training, more staff (spread the work evenly) and better software.

Cool people to work with. Learned how to sell a product that is a "nice to have" and not a necessity for most companies.

    Cons
