I worked at BMW full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule is available and fun to be around nice cars.

    Cons

Horrible company to work for. Nobody is ever on the same page with regards to how your work is going. One manager can say you are good and the other manger can say another.
There its a constant flow of new people coming so you never can get properly trained. When you ask questions to supervisor she would not know the answer. If you asked the service manager he made it seem like you are bothering him.
The supervisor will say one thing to you and communicate the opposite to her boss. The service manager was the complete opposite of how a manger should be. He constantly made you feel like you were walking on egg shells or bothering him with questions. He would walk in and only acknowledge certain people instead of others and never seemed to smile.

    Advice to Management

Have proper training with managers on how to treat a person. Work on having better communication that can help people have a more proactive approach instead of just reacting to situations. Stop taking advantage of the temp service and actually work with people.

    I worked at BMW full-time

    Pros

    free car, flexibility, decent benefits

    Cons

most of their field employees are contractors and treated poorly. BMW says that contractors are just like internal employees but that is definitely not the case. BMW protects its employees no matter what; hostile work environment, sexual harassment, you name it. The second you speak up about one of THEIR internal employees behaving badly you are let go and black-balled by everyone internal and external. The contractor companies have no loyalty to their employees and will take BMW's (their client) side no matter what. Good luck being a woman in this company, I guess to succeed here you have to have no self respect and not speak up about anything inappropriate in the workplace. My advice is go work somewhere they actually respect and support their employees and don't cover up HR complaints by FIRING the complaint issuer

I have been working at BMW full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's a secure job, but can do much better. This is a job that people with no education is good for, otherwise, don't bother with this place.

    Cons

Too many to list, good insurance though.

    Advice to Management

Management selectively disciplines associates. Work on being fair to all employees

I have been working at BMW full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's a great stepping stone to pay for college and to find a better Job.

    Cons

If your considering a Production-Associate position at BMW in hopes of a better future- Don't. It's a dire-last resort that will leave its own unique mark on your physical body in which you will carry for the rest of your life. As you may have already known, BMW is contracted out through the temp. service MAU. You perform the exact same jobs as BMW associates, but with far, and I mean, far far less pay with the "Promise" to be hired by BMW. This service usually takes about 1.5-2 years. Once hired for a mere $0.30 raise, you will spend the next 5-Years "climbing the latter" if you will to reach top pay. I cannot stand the idea of a union, but damn. This isn't the same company that had everyone falling for it in the early 90s. Today's expectation of the company is to be lied too, manipulated, taken advantage of, more false hopes, social engineering, and my personal favorite- a rumor mill.

You are worth so much more than to surrender 7-8 years of your life to a company that will never appreciate your work. You truly are. There are better jobs out there that will pay more and will leave you with your own life. A 2-year degree from Greenville Tech in nursing will make far more than this place in 7 Years. Think about that.

    Advice to Management

    Go to Hell.

I have been working at BMW full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

HR department is terrible and unfair. They do not fully investigate issues. You better be a favorite of someone in HR or someone of upper management. Pay is okay but they make you work a terrible schedule. Benefits are great for your family but the strain on the individual working there makes it not worth it.

    Cons

Terrible HR, Terrible management, trys to rip their own employees off any chance given.

    Pros

Long team stable and clean environment. We do reviever half of what a BMW employees make in bonuses.

    Cons

It in TOS you will never leave at make to same as long as your there. They are removing more and more of what makes working for BMW fulfilling.

    Advice to Management

Follow the rules that german has provided you and treat people as people not bagde numbers

I have been working at BMW full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Money is OK. Work isn't very hard. Overall it's an easy job. Easy to move up the ladder because they can't keep people.

    Cons

Only plant in the world where we are contracted. Constantly swapping between El cheapo security companies that make a company like Walmart look outstanding. Benefits are outrageously expensive and practically useless. No retirement plan. No PTO. No training budget. No annual training burn as required by the NFPA. 0 formal training on safety yet we are expected enforce BMW'S safety policies for contractors. Equipment is not dependable.

    Advice to Management

Stop pinching pennies and invest in your people.

I have been working at BMW full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Clean work environment, decent pay but not as much as other auto manufacturers. Benefits package is good but degrades more each year.

    Cons

Very bad management who makes arbitrary process changes to impress Germany and then grinds employees into the ground to make up the numbers for their bad decisions. Work/life balance is non existent except for only one week per month. No sick days unless salaried. Management don't "lead by example"! They call overtime and then go home!

    Advice to Management

Stop grinding employees into the ground to make up numbers for your bad decisions! Try "leading by example" for once instead of "leading from behind"!

    I worked at BMW full-time

    Pros

Great Product and clients to work with.

    Cons

Due to changes and "Future Retail" they are no longer a premium experience for customers. I was told for 20 years we provided the best shopping experience. BMW and Dealerships have changed to a Toyota / Mazda operation of jerking customers around and clients was now telling me they hate it. I'm told now by every Client Advisor still there they hate it and it is no longer fun. Also pay cuts.

    Advice to Management

Quit threatening to fire client advisors everyday. Quit having meetings everyday. Return authority back to client advisors and quit requiring multiple mgrs. to review every deal.
