I have been working at BNP Paribas as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - You will be surrounded by people who have a strong work ethic
    - Usually you will work with teams of 4+ people
    - Work / life balance

    Cons

    - As a contractor you most likely won't have paid sick days or vacation
    - No room for professional development / no evaluations from managers

    Advice to Management

Work to improve the departments culture so that contractors feel just as valued as employees because they work just as hard.

I worked at BNP Paribas full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

BNP has an excellent vacation policy.
    ** Analysts - start with 21-25 days
    ** AVP's - start with 30 days
** VP's and higher - max out at 35 days

Health benefits are also very comprehensive.
** Medical, Dental and Vision are covered

Pay - if you are a new hire it is possible to start with market value

Volunteering options for many community activities.

BNP promotes a work-life balance ...BUT ... to be continued in the Cons section.

Work from home options available, but dependent on the attitudes of the individual departments management.

BNP does afford the opportunity to make job changes within the company.

    Cons

Raises / Bonuses - horrible. The past 5 years have been the worst and you would be lucky to get 2-3% for both.
There has been major global downsizing due to a $9 Billion fine. In the IT departments alone there were over 100 job cuts in 2016. So this is also a factor in the lower raises and bonuses.

Jobs have also been either outsourced or near-shored in order to cut costs.

Although BNP promotes a work-life balance, this does seem to trickle down to all of the departments within the company, especially in the IT departments. And if you attempt to take advantage of this then you take the chance of being "unofficially" flagged as not being a team player.

In IT there are long hours and weekend work constantly all year round even if it's not your scheduled on-call or off-hours rotation. Even though some of the work is planned in advance, that requires most staff from all departments, the amount of projects that require off-hours and/or weekend work is off the charts.

Many in IT senior management have their own political/business agendas that end up having repercussions on the working staff.

    Advice to Management

Please be more conscious of the work-life balance policy being promoted within the company and allow your staff to take advantage of it. This will help prevent work burn-out and the low morale which is a big issue at the company.

I worked at BNP Paribas full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    great heath benefits, vacation time

    Cons

I suppose it is an ok place for entry level people, but there is no career potential after that. Promotions and pay increases are nonexistent. The systems are terribly deficient so the manual work arounds take a lot of time. Poor management no leadership high turnover.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of unprofessional and unproductive management. Hire qualified people.

I have been working at BNP Paribas full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

generous benefits -- vacation time, health insurance etc.

    Cons

Management completely top-down driven, no input from people lower on the food chain asked for or acknowledged. Salary is low compared to other Wall Street investment banks. IT is way behind the times and the upper management is clueless. Politics drives a lot of what goes on -- counts for more than what you accomplish for the company.

    Advice to Management

listen to someone other then yourselves.
