I worked at BNP Paribas full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good career mobility. A little less than intense than most wall street firms.

    Cons

Compensation was below-average. They reported and paid bonuses late (mid-march) so it was hard to find a new job in the early year scramble, and they always preserved an option for themselves once the market had been made for bonuses by paying so late.

Were never really taken seriously by clients.

Technology was an issue too. Didn't spend on IT, most of the infrastructure was in Europe.

I have been working at BNP Paribas full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Opportunities to grow and learn , vacation, and laid back environment, good people depending on the group you are in

    Cons

US HR policies on overall comp / promotions/ raises
Seems like it is made up and are not consistent from year to year. Get a pay range per title and stick to it
Reward the hard workers and trim to fat

    Advice to Management

Get a plan for the US, do we want to compete for market share or just be in the game. It's fine if we just want to be in the game and not be top 10 just let everyone know, stop overpaying for people on the street, we have talent in house that is cheaper , loyal and understand the BNP way.
