I worked at BNP Paribas full-time

    Pros

overall a lot of good people work here and have done so for many years and will be helpful to new employees trying to enter their workforce. Benefits and vacation time are very good and above industry standard.

    Cons

Generally not a good working atmosphere and people seem to be looking over their shoulders at the next issue., Senior management seem to have little care for the worker bee and allow some of the very senior management to do what they like, right or wrong and make the employees suffer the consequences. there is a lack of career prospects but this is mainly due to the size.

    Advice to Management

Management should actually investigate some of these managers and empower HR so they feel they can actually make an independent assessment of the way people are treated.

I have been working at BNP Paribas full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-Interns were paid pretty well, perhaps above intern "market rate."
-Laid-back banking culture (this is both a pro and a con)
-Good work life balance, you don't need to put in a lot of hours here.

    Cons

    -Presence in US is weak
    -Disorganized
-Overall the bank doesn't really have any culture which further lends to a disorganized work environment.
-Corporate culture of bank is also unprofessional due to disorganization.
-Policies and expectations were ambiguous and inconsisent
-Not a challenging work environment. If you are looking for a more stimulating environment with top talent this isn't the shop for you.
-Bank's products seem to be weak in comparison to European counterparts in the US, thus less challenging work.

    Advice to Management

Create a more organized and better structured intern program. Expectations were indeterminate from the start. Management also could better utilize interns and give them more demanding projects. However, this could just reflect the culture of the bank as well. If you want to retain high quality talent it starts from day one, and the bank overall did not lay out a high quality internship program. Transparency is essential for a successful internship program so that all interns are on a level playing field.
