Pros
Decent pay, can call in sick when ever you want. Never have to deal with a boss about it. Pretty easy work
Cons
They pay you well for inconvenience, the job will make you old. The company has a binding contract with the union, yet the make their own rules ans do what ever they want. They don’t let you take your vacation days or personal leave days and blame it on shortage of workers, when in fact they have a few thousand of their workers out of work on furlough. The company looks at you like a number, they could care less about their employees. Work life balance sucks unless you have a really good seniority which could take 25 years to achieve. Employees Morale sucks. Every location I’ve been. People hate their job.

Pros
Benefits Retirement Pay Moving to another location if needed
Cons
Management is subpar to say the best. If you are a Trainmaster that is respected by the employees or treats the employees well they will push you out and push you out quick. They did it to a female trainmaster we had it was sad to watch. It is also sad to watch new employees get furloughed right away once they are hired. No work life balance and you better not go over your availability or you will be sent straight to investigation. Management enjoys burning people. It is if our terminal managers sit around and drink to celebrate who the screwed today. I'm old and it heartbreaking to see how the supervision is getting worse and worse.
