All for One, None for All
Mar 28, 2023 - Product Manager in Irvine, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Decent pay Available benefits Bonus available
Cons
No teamwork. Everyone is out for themselves. CEO is very blunt, insulting, and condescending. Many in Sr Management love to attack each other vs the problem. No sense of supporting each other. People won’t hesitate to place blame and throw you under the bus. Aggressive talk and emotional reactions are preferred.

Uncompetitive Company, Unhappy Employees
Jan 1, 2023 - Brand Manager in Irvine, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
This is a company where historically people spend many years - lots of colleagues have been there for at least 5. They tend to promote from within. Work life balance varies drastically depending on the team you are on, but can be good.
Cons
Large disconnect between senior leadership/CEO and employee wants. For example, CEO has a huge in office push, even going as far as threatening to check badge swipes for all corporate employees. Poor benefits package. Medical is uncompetitive and has relatively high premiums. No paid parental leave, which is surprising given that it is a german company and their employees in Munich are off for a year sometimes. Vacation Days are dependent on amount of time at the company resulting in limited packages (only 10 days for first 5 years!). Limited opportunities for US employees. While they promote from within, they tend to bring people from abroad to fill leadership roles. Many times these people are not given the language or management support needed to succeed at the job. Furthermore, their lack of cultural fluency can result in an extremely difficult work environment. Relatively flat organization results in little to no opportunity to manage others due to antiquated rules (e.g. must manage at least 6 people, others wise not happening). Not parent friendly. The company was historically very mom friendly, but no longer. Colleagues back from maternity leave struggled with flexible arrangements and finding enough time to pump (blocks put on calendar were not respected). As stated above, no paid parental leave from the company directly. Those on part time schedules were made to work full time hours and even weekends sometimes. Uncompetitive Pay. Must negotiate hard during initial hiring since raises are inconsistent. Despite being a "pay for performance" company, raises do not necessarily align with reviews. Funds are generally allocated to underpaid employees, resulting in little to no merit increases for others. Raises in the past few years did NOT keep up with inflation. Generally this is a super conservative company and not quick to act or respond to market changes. A big part of the job is learning how to work around all of the bureaucracy and process set by headquarters in Germany.
