    Pros

Good industry. Good coffee. And a company that makes solid products. They truly do make the best dishwashers in the world.

    Cons

A lot of politics in the office, you have to know someone German in order to really move up. They don't promote from within. And if you want to get anywhere in your career, you basically have to spend a year or two in Berlin

    Advice to Management

Try to promote from within. Learn to show appreciation to your employees. You need more career opportunities to offer to your people

    Pros

Great salary, benefits, opportunity for growth and travel. Excellent job for young, single individual with no family, no commitments and nothing to distract from work.

    Cons

Managers control internal transfers, which end up leaving a lot of work undone and other positions in the lurch. There is a lot of performance management, micromanagement, and progressive discipline, which just makes one end up feeling babysat like an 8-year-old. In fact, between the micromanagement and interoffice cliques, it feels a lot like grade school. Since there is so much red tape and bureaucracy, it's difficult to meet deadlines, or get anything accomplished period. The vision is rather muddy, so a lot of the work seems redundant and unnecessary. Personal life is said to be important, but not working overtime is frowned upon--as are after-work life commitments. I had been told straight out that my job was more important than anything I had committed to after hours. Now that I care for an elderly family member, I realize that this is absolutely NOT true. No job is more important than family.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time building strategies with team members and less time "telling" what needs to be done. Instead of reprimanding team members for getting caught in red tape, be a manager and help facilitate the needs of the team. Also, it's okay to have friends at work, but it's not okay to outwardly exclude team members because of personal reasons. Most importantly, learn the meaning of "team," and know that to most people, family is more important than work.
