I worked at BSM Technologies full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They are starting to use others hardware, their hardware has numerous issues and is not supported. Snow plow solution is only positive, focus is on one vertical. Recent merger is not going well, change of platform and hardware are primary issue, along with lagging products.

    Cons

Where to start: horrible products and support, customer needs are not considered at all. Sales strategy is sell, sell, who cares if it works. Management is inexperienced in transportation integration, stand alone product.

    Advice to Management

Sell and let someone else run what’s left

I worked at BSM Technologies full-time

    Pros

Monthly lunches, easy commute, cool technology

    Cons

There is a culture of nepotism and favourites, so if you're not one of the cool kids you'll be shown the door. IF you are a cool kid who's lazy and has bad grammar you'll go far

I have been working at BSM Technologies full-time

    Pros

    - Monthly Town Hall and free lunches
    - Coworkers are nice

    Cons

Layoff a lot of Techies in Toronto, but hired a lot of new Directors to "improve company culture"
    Little or no pay raises
Constantly Changing, so don't expect the promises can be kept
high turn over - in several project meetings, half of the team members were replaced within 3 month.
Treat employee differently. For the same position, some people allow work from home, but some might not even given the VPN.
You might not even be able to find basic supplies
Does not care of employee's personal growth.

I have been working at BSM Technologies full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Coworkers are nice, good team spirit despite daily hardships.
    - Social Committee & Town Hall free lunches are great.
    - Recognition in monthly Town Hall meetings.
    - Work/Life Flexibility (department experience may vary)

    Cons

    - Yearly restructuring is horrible for morale as good people lose their jobs while we make record profits for our board.
    - Long lasting consequences when these changes happen, infuses a bad vibe long after it happens.
    - Yearly increases are pitiful - hard to ask increase when yearly reviews happens right after restructuring.
    - Absolutely no bonus structure, so no reason to excel.
    - Top heavy, too many chiefs.
    - Nepotism, nepotism, nepotism.
    - Recently implemented open plan workstations, exceedingly difficult to work in.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your employees & invest in your product.
The words spoken by the CEO are not reflected by the actions performed.
Drop the open plan concept as it reduces productivity.

Product can’t compete in marketplace as it’s outdated.
Too many companies that aren’t connected at all.

    Pros

Everyone in the company are very friendly. Great company culture, monthly outdoor activity. Great revenue and growing market.

    Cons

Not open to new technologies, product's architecture design is limited to small group of people. Suggestion: having that more open discussion to everyone in the team.

    Advice to Management

Come to talk to everyone to know directly face to face with the employees.

    Pros

Pros? you get a cheque every 2 weeks and cheap parking in the Burnaby office.

    Cons

Cons? terrible product - can't compete with any major players out there. Senior mgmt downright bullies staff to get results. if results are not good - layoffs galore ! In fact, we just went through a round - 2 senior execs were cut... .1 retired and the other got his karma! The burnaby office is on its last legs - it will be shut down within a year so don' t bother. The product is so poorly managed its a wonder they have any customers left.

    Advice to Management

keep cleaning house until you get to the top. nepotism doesn't work.
