I have been working at BSR Trust full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great leadership focused on core values. If you need assistance there are those from the support team who will not only listen but do all they can to help. Been with the company many years and pay, benefits and culture keep me here.

    Cons

There was a lot of upheaval during the merger a few years ago and things were difficult.

Leadership has been surveying all team members the last couple of years and have not only listened to the feedback but have made major changes as a result of the suggestions by employees.

    Advice to Management

The annual feedback surveys have been instrumental in making BSR a great place to work. Keep moving forward by listening to the team. Our success is in our people.

I worked at BSR Trust full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Corporate has no problem spending money to keep the communities beautiful. Treatment of staff by corporate staff is professional. Pay and benefits are good.

    Cons

Mid-Management lacks the professionalism that our core values and mission statement states. Too much micro-managing by same group.

    Advice to Management

Create a employee value attitude with mid-management as this overbearing unprofessional attitude creates a hostile work environment, Employees will leave due to this type of management style regardless of how well you pay.

I worked at BSR Trust full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Work environment was interesting since it involved spending time in the office, touring the property, visiting other sister locations.

Social events: Great way to meet people within and outside of the organization. Very helpful in building connections

    Cons

Worked at a severely distressed property, very crucial effects when trying to prospect and lease.

Poor training, they give you a book and expect you to learn everything. Sort of threw you in and expected you to take charge, which is fine, but there were few employees to actually show you how to properly due the job because the properties were short staffed and turn over rate.

    very high turn over.

Shady co-workers, and people got fired with no just reason.

    Advice to Management

You need to renovate your properties, provide better training, and hire better property managers.

    Pros

Easy to move up, Great people, great customer service, Company has money for plenty supplies, Amazing benefits, Great environment

    Cons

They don't assist or help with big big properties, They should check up on their properties more to help them in any way possible, The corporate people some times have awful attitudes

    Advice to Management

You can't progress if people can't stick around long enough to fix the things that need to be fixed. Managers in this industry need to be very structured, organized, caring, and determined to the property or people they are managing.
