I have been working at BT full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some really good people in large part. High potential for success if they execute intelligently. Decent benefits and time off

    Cons

Very disorganized structure and inconsistent execution from leadership .Frequently focus solely on numbers but forget to remember the foundation that is responsible for making the numbers possible to begin with

    Advice to Management

While focusing only on the one big fish, the school of thousands of medium fish that can outperform the single large fish pass right by completely unnoticed....and communication is the answer...

I have been working at BT full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Very flexible about letting employees work from home.
    - Direct line managers almost always very fair, and genuinely care about your growth
    - Decent amount of holiday, sick pay, and even a small amount of paternity leave
    -Decent work/life balance (mostly)
    - A very well-paced on boarding process for new hires. I never felt overwhelmed.

    Cons

    - Annual "bonus" is always cut drastically or cut altogether
    - Cost savings has become the number 1 priority for BT, and has been for the past few years and is getting steadily worse. It is more important to them to cut costs than delivery a satisfactory or even passible product to it's customer. Lay offs are numerous, and jobs are being removed or combined for the remaining staff.
    - BT takes advantage of it's most loyal employees. Changing positions internally provides little to no remuneration! They give an excuse about only being able to give so much percentage increase in pay at a time, but if it had been an external hire, they would have been provided the full amount immediately. The full increase never comes, but your workload doubles.

    Advice to Management

Care about your employees, especially those who have decided to be loyal to your company and stay internal for a better position. Put more effort into improving the quality of your product, and not just continue to cut costs which is running this company into the ground.

I worked at BT full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good exposure to companies, International Company

    Cons

Its an easy position, but there is no room for growth and no incentives,
the morale of the office is low and they will drop you at a drop of a hat

Sorry that you feel there is no progression within your role, we do grow our own employees within the company so we’d definitely urge you to discuss this with your line manager.

I have been working at BT full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I am very happy with the flexible hours, stability of the job, stress free environment, and benefits I have received from BT Conferencing.

    Cons

Although BT Conferencing has been great, it lacks room for advancement in many jobs, they have had a high turnover rate in management, and certain off site positions have slow work flow communications with the main US site on the east coast.

    Advice to Management

Develop a better process to help minimize high turn over rates for managers and work on better communication/work procedure documents for off site employees.

I worked at BT full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

18 years and I was treated well, until regional restructuring and matrix management took over.

    Cons

Pushing for generalist role, no interest is vertical specialization.

    Advice to Management

Cannot only pursue the big binary deals, not how the business will grow. Customer satisfaction and key customer relationships at Ll level in the customers organization is key. You cannot just focus on CEO meetings, not all business is conducted at the C suite.

I have been working at BT full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Many technology variations and customers globally beyond "big telco." Good health plan. Good time off, 4 week with seniority. Good sick leave, 401k match, stock options, work from home option. Global multinational work experience. Fair compensation. Market leader in business to business communication, outsourcing, call center, security, consulting, finance, government and military.

    Cons

Technical work not always sold with designed support. Complex bureaucracy and processes. Big head count and layered management; senior managers not sufficiently aware of direct reporting team operation details and challenges. Under tight cost control.

    Advice to Management

Stay in touch with direct reporting teams to enable and support the work requested from them.
