    Pros

Global Brand if you are in that environment as it is recognized well in Europe. If the company's vision is executed correctly with the right people, then the upside potentials are huge.

    Cons

Slow, poor execution of corporate strategy and lack of enough quality and qualified workers. The quality workers usually end up doing the job of the unqualified workers. Not enough workers that truly have what it takes to be working and leading an IT service company.

    Advice to Management

BT needs the right people that truly understands the industry, customer and leadership at all levels to execute the strategy properly.

    Pros

Knowledge sharing, level of intelligence within the company, future offered by large global mother company (British Telecom). The company has a rich history when it comes to knowledge sharing and knowledge management/knowledge base. These guys really know consulting and have worked it out to a work of art. The deliverables they produce make clients go WOW! There is a very solid reason that this company was aquired last year by the huge global telecom/IT provider "British Telecom". This is a 110,000+ company which offers long term stability

    Cons

Travel, local management, poor local sales model, currently a bit of unsure where BT is going to take the company as part of last year's acquisition.

    Advice to Management

    take care of your employees

    Pros

Working for BT will challenge you and allow you to learn from the good and the bad.

    Cons

Failure to integrate acquisitions. Decision making is not distributed -- tends to go up the chain. Lack of executive direction. Recent execs focus on personal compensation versus proper restructuring of the company to meet market needs and provide shareholder value.

    Advice to Management

Get to know your own business, seek individuals with proven ways of successfully conducting business differently, and engage those individuals in leading the entire company in its transformation (execs, don't assume you know the answers when you don't know the business and don't look to external consultants to take your incorrect inputs and define a restructure).

    Pros

it's a relative progressive conglomerate, good work-life balance, nice people, and a lot of talented people. good benefits as well longer-than-average pay leave.

    Cons

some times slow and hard to make an impact, especially for young folks. It's always hard to make sth achieved

    Advice to Management

it's a right path to go, but how will you release the burden from being a monopoly in telecom field.

    Pros

My experience at BT INS was generally good, except for weak management.

    Cons

Executives were generally incompetent and out of touch.

    Advice to Management

    Eliminate the deadwood in management.

    Pros

Good work, life balance in the Americas SSC (Finance).

    Cons

Not in US corp headquarters (El Segundo, CA), nor UK Global Corporate headquarters, so difficult to network internally, limiting upward mobility opportunities as the company tends to promote from a UK centric perspective.

    Advice to Management

Pay grades need to rise if you expect to maintain talent in the DC area, they are much too low!

    Pros

Company has a great mission, cutting edge portfolio of services. Really has the potential to rocket> The leadership team is smart and savy and they truly have a great customer base and great front line employees.

    Cons

Haven't invested enough in frontline support to make sure that we are offering quality of service, Haven't offered raises in 3 years. Each division works as it's own separate entitiy duplicating efforts or worse sabotaging efforts of other sales team. Even though GLT is great, Middle Management is not. There is too much politics and not enough action.

    Advice to Management

Focus on combining teams and groups to really understand the economy of scale and services that could be delivered. As a company BT is bleeding money as they are trying to compensate too many sales team. sales leaders etc on small deals

    Pros

    Work from home
    Knowledge sharing network
    Above average benefits

    Cons

Travel for PS (i.e. "BT-INS widower" is a common inside joke )
Best opprtunities go to the choosen few.
Regional model for P&L has created internal competition
Layoffs come quick and weren't communicated

    Advice to Management

Focus on a few core competancies, your portfolio is to wide.

    Pros

    Cons

Less than industry vacation, lots of travel, to much company 'ra-ra'

    Advice to Management

Pick a model and stick with it rather than changing one every couple months

Working for BT in the US when your projects are in the UK can be challenging.
