    some very qualified people but mostly in the UK

    in the US a highly political culture, standard benefits

    make it less bureaucratic

    Great people to work with in my team
    Great salary and benefits
    In the US very diverse and helpful at times

    Cons

    It seemed to be a very political organisation in the sense that you had to be strategic to maintain your position or advance. If you didn't play their games you were quickly cast aside. Also people in the higher levels seem a little power hungry and controlling

    Advice to Management

    Allow more organic growth from the bottom up and all your employees to fulfill their mandate without putting unreasonable restrictions on whom and to what level they should be communicating at without first funneling it through a different manager who is busy with their own work.

    Pros

    Decent Pay, occasional bonuses, very small (if any) additional contributions to 401K. But BT suffers an annual process of "cutting the top paid employees" through what's euphemistically known as "Value for Money" process.

    Cons

    Too large of a company to make an impact. Especially in the US Global Services business. BT is still operated like the old school "telcom" with that same mindset and DNA. Which makes for a great leap from that DNA into the Global Services mindset.

    Pros

    They are good about allowing work from home a few times per week which is great.

    Cons

    There is a growing lack of direction and sense of being a part of something. A company this size is hard to work for when you are someone who likes to get things done quickly and move on.

    Advice to Management

    There was an initiative called "space to lead" - too bad it was never implemented as that is what is needed today. There are way too many things that need sign off at very high levels which delays getting things done. Also, they seem only interested in short term gains which often is at the expense of longer term success. Penny wise and pound foolish.

    Pros

    Learned a lot through very challenging times. There are some really great people there that work their tails off to bring everything together.

    Cons

    Toxic environment. Poor culture. No clear vision or direction and lots of jobs head to Great Britain where they have loads of staff with union contracts.

    Advice to Management

    Address the toxic environment, treat employees like assets (even United States employees) and determine how best to compete for and retain top talent.

    Pros

    Fantastic work environment with a diverse group of people , in general colleagues are willing to go out of their way help each other and work in a truly collaborative manner .to deliver the best product and services to their customers that they can.
    Typically very flexible and accommodating regarding things like work schedule and tele-commute.

    Cons

    Customer say it is difficult to do business with the company. Business systems and processes are cumbersome and archaic . Responses to customer questions and enquirers tale a long time to turn around with the result that client say that that cannot spend the time and effort to chase what should be standard practice.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your customers , they say they want to do more business but are anxious that it will leave them in a position of mot having the answer they need in a timely fashion and as such they will chose a more responsive vendor.
