    Advice to Management

Learn the work before trying to give orders

I worked at BT full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The work was relatively easy for the amount of pay provided.

    Free coffee is nice.

    Cons

Management is completely out of touch with reality in regards to business objectives and direction, resulting in an extremely toxic and pessimistic working environment.

Aggressive outsourcing is bringing in new employees for cheap that are under-trained and are destroying the customer experience with the first line.

No real path for improvement is being presented in any of these circumstances; management seems to be of the opinion that if one simply says that things will improve without taking tangible action, this will smooth over.

Benefits are mediocre at best. The PTO policy is generous, but difficult to utilize, while the health insurance provided is abysmal.

    Advice to Management

Invest in and grow your people; stop trying to do more with less. Fix the inherently broken processes that are compromising work flow and output.

I worked at BT full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good range of clients and large companies. My account team was really good. They are flexible with telecommuting.

    Cons

The management is really bad. There is lots of bullying and pressure to meet deadlines but the offshore centers can't deliver. Processes are not followed and no one pays attention to schedules. Lots of decision made in Europe are not communicated to the US team. They have lots of restructuring and lay-offs but nothing seems to get better.

    Advice to Management

Clean out the bad senior management

I worked at BT full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great brand. Great innovator. Great colleagues around the globe.

    Cons

Struggling to cope with investments done >10 years ago as competition is providing better service at much lower price. Very slow service delivery due to broken processes caused by global sourcing forced by BT Group. Resulting in constant reorganizations which is demotivating. Many people are working on auto-pilot till the company decides for them.

    Advice to Management

Bring back the 'Heart' and inspire employees to help building that cathedral.

    Pros

Great product offering. Complementary offering to BT's network. Global Reach to 170+ countries

    Cons

Silo approach; business units don't communicate & cooperate well. Too few project managers. All installations are contracted to 3rd parties, so there is no single standard.

    Advice to Management

Decide if you really want to be in this business. If you do, devote the resources needed to provide a complete. If it's not the direction BT is moving in, close it or sell it.
