    Pros

The local people are great to work with. BT has a strength in their global network so they have lots of great global companies in their client list.

    Cons

The management is terrible. They clearly favor their employees from the UK but have frequent layoffs in their international teams. They also have lots of centers in India and Hungary that can't seem to deliver. But when layoffs come they hit the local teams.

    Advice to Management

Stop signing contracts without input from a delivery team.

I have been working at BT full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Most employees were good at their jobs and happy to be working there. They had a decent portfolio of services to sell and was looking to move on the right direction for telecom

    Cons

Support was s major issue. Their management style was pretty disjointed. Always concerned about down sizing and people not comfortable if they were going to be able to keep their jobs.

    Advice to Management

The leadership changed way too frequently. Employee on boarding was very weak. Company direction was lacking and in a state of flux. Need to hire more people to support people.

I have been working at BT full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It's all about the people. They will work hard, including nights and weekends at times giving up their private lives.

    Cons

Poor support from senior management. When it comes down to cost, just say goodbye to your colleagues.

    Advice to Management

Honesty communication. Not all "wine and roses"

    Pros

Position still offers a degree of flexibility. Good vacation accrual and bonus plan (when it's paid). Friendly co-workers.

    Cons

Becoming increasingly difficult to get the simplest of things done (IT support, travel approval etc...). There is a constant threat to outsource work to low cost work centers (India, Hungary etc...). Benefits, bonuses, company cell phone plans, are constantly being reduced or taken away. The workflows on many of the products are extremely convoluted which makes it very difficult to deliver a product when in reality, it should be much more simple than it is.

    Advice to Management

Find the happy medium regarding customer, employee and shareholder satisfaction. Make a reasonable profit and quit trying to save at all costs when it is at the expense of the customer and employees.

    Pros

My local department was excellent. Great management.Good vacation and work/life balance.

    Cons

Outside of the GSC groups like BT Hungary and LATAM are lazy and have little to no technical ability. Global Services CEO is a joke, who just wants to cut and move more and more to overseas to less trained groups. Service Delivery is a laughingstock. Was told by senior management that BT "doesn't want to be a Lexus, but a Kia with leather seats, so stop trying so hard"

    Advice to Management

it takes 2 different departments to do the job of one, yet the company is wondering why they are loosing money. Get rid of the Wipro, BT Hungary and Latam and start from scratch. This groups are clearly failures.

    Pros

stable company unless they feel like eliminating employees to save a dollar

    Cons

zero technical leadership, just a mess as they fail to become a creative force and yet fail to follow any reasonable modern strategy for software development

    Advice to Management

stop trying to crush the life out any sign of creativity. also, try to be less British.
