    Pros

Telco company with good profile, to build up CV.
    Nice stepping stone for graduates.
Fantastic health benefit that covers the immediate family member.

Too much of "creating jobs" process in place that actually slow down the real work.

I have been working at BT full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Offers a plethora of of opportunities and the benefit of a high quality organisation. Has a very good intranet enabling huge amounts of knowledge and educational development.

    Cons

Too slow. Too bureaucratic. Too dispersed. Insufficient orientation to leverage all the knowledge available. The line management in the matrix organisation do not take accountability of placing inappropriate resources to critical roles resulting in Customer dis satisfaction

    Advice to Management

Too financially and HR driven and not people focussed. Good people are leaving because they can leaving mediocre resources to form the core.

    Pros

Initially, a great company to work for. Customers' business came first. Innovative solutions that genuinely were built to assist customers and great career prospects to advance. People would support your endeavours. If you were a profitable revenue generator you were supported.

    Cons

BTGS has lost sight of what is important both internally and externally. The analogy I use to describe BTGS is, "It used to be a Michelin Star Restaurant, you would prepare a bespoke meal for the customer because they paid a high price for the service and the brand, now they still want to charge the high price but provide Macdonalds service and offering. The Brand value has been diluted with poor service". The service delivery capability is debilitating to customer's business, imagine waiting more than a year for a service to be delivered. Products and services are smoke and mirrors, they do not exist except on a powerpoint presentation. They have lost a key differentiator to the competition which was experienced people and collaborative culture. The bureaucracy absolutely conflicts with generating profitable business, hindering service delivery and in-turn impacting customer sentiment. I know of global accounts that have lost 35-40% of their revenue as customers move their business to better service providers. They have replaced high experienced resources with in-experienced resources and it shows. The culture used to support the brightest minds, encouraged innovation and supported diversity, now it has become a culture of intimidation and harassment where you could get a poor performance rating for not sitting with your manager...in a hot desk environment.

    Advice to Management

Stop being short sighted. Your short-term gains to Net profit will quickly erode in the long run when you can't invoice for services that have not been delivered to quality.

I worked at BT full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Option to work from home. Great office.

    Cons

Some employees don't get the salaries they deserve. Too much work, yet underpaid (small salary and no overtime pay). No technical training offered for employees. No long term solutions for existing problems. No proper resource planning - they just pick anyone even with unfit skillset. No work-life balance. I don't recommend this company to anyone.

    Advice to Management

    Value your employees.

I have been working at BT full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexibility in terms of work location. Medical benefits are top-notched. People are friendly.

    Cons

Laying off people in a bid to reduce costs in a time when there isn't enough people to even bid for more projects. Targets get higher and higher without proper consideration if resources are there to complete them.

    Advice to Management

Listen more to people on the ground. Look to retain people than constantly hiring and training them just to lose / lay off them after.

I worked at BT full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They always have vacancy due to high staff turnover. So there is always hiring opportunity.

    Cons

Poor management level. No technical ability, only the ability to talk. Slides are requested at last minute by your boss and then your name is replaced with your boss' name as it gets presented to senior executives.
Very unfortunately there is a clear bias in promotion opportunity based on birth heritage.

    Advice to Management

Clean up your game, and do some real work! Only then can BTGS turn profitable again.

Former Intern - Business Management Intern in Singapore (Singapore)

I worked at BT as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

I was given several assignments to work on and much ownership. Good work-life balance generally which allows working from home

    Cons

Very little face-to-face interactions even though people are in the same office. Cost cutting measures are affecting employee's office working experience.
