I have been working at BTS full-time for more than a year

    Pros

BTS hires great people who are incredibly fun to work with and definitely fosters a work hard, play hard culture. Consultants have an opportunity to travel to international locations for work such as Singapore, Dublin, Prague, and Amsterdam. They are also pretty flexible in terms of letting people leave early, come in late, or work from home as long as you get your work done by the deadlines Management is pretty accepting...

    Cons

Sometimes, you are required to work late nights and weekends to get a project done and you may be traveling for 4-5 weeks at a time. The travel and work schedules can be inconsistent at times - sometimes you will not have much work and put in 35-40 hours a week, other times you will be incredibly busy and work 70-80 hours a week. The company is currently working on being more process driven so if you are uncomfortable...

    Advice to Management

Management needs to work on standardizing processes so that we can do our work even faster and more efficiently. Some of the people at Director/Senior Director levels in the organization are not very effective project leaders.

I have been working at BTS full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I love working at BTS because the opportunities I am given at this stage in my career (4-5 years out of college) are truly unmatched. I am not aware of many other employers that would allow me to engage directly with C-level executives at some of the hottest software companies, or give me the opportunity to take a direct role in architecting the platforms we use for our simulations. Better yet, I get to do all this with...

Work-life balance can be a challenge

    Advice to Management

Keep up the initiatives around process improvements and consistency Keep the balance of "freedom and responsibility" as we grow

I have been working at BTS for more than a year

    Pros

If you're looking for a fast-paced, entrepreneurial company that will demand a lot of you while exposing you to some of the world's top companies, this is the place to be. Rather than traveling to one location for one project, up to a year at a time, you work on multiple projects at once (great for people who may get bored or burnt out quickly). The cities to which you travel vary weekly (a significant amount is international),...

    Cons

Long hours can be taxing, especially given the ebb and flow of travel. However, management is good about encouraging people to take time away from work when they aren't busy. Being a smaller company that is growing quickly, BTS isn't a very process-oriented organization. This can provide opportunities, but also creates rework.

    Advice to Management

As BTS continues to grow quickly, don't compromise the unique culture by just hiring bodies. Make sure candidates fit the mold of a BTSer.

I have been working at BTS full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Awesome people, a lot of autonomy, ability to learn about different companies/industries, great travel opportunities, snacks in the kitchen (always a plus), room for growth, opportunities above your title, and the management is great, and it's FUN! Best job I've had so far.

    Cons

Work life balance can be overwhelming at times. Be ready for a lot of travel and some long hours (as with most consulting jobs).

I worked at BTS full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fosters a great work environment and teamed with, for the most part, smart people. Exposure to senior leadership and opportunity to travel and experience an untraditional career route

    Cons

This is not a strategy consulting firm despite its best efforts to market itself as one. This is a learning and development firm. You mostly work with people in HR or their Learning and Development organization - there is nothing exciting about that. You don't do any consulting related analysis. Real strategy is left for the likes of MBB, LEK, AT Kearney, Strategy& and Marakon. Difficult to lateral to other consulting...

I worked at BTS for more than a year

    Pros

name recognition of big clients, creative and meaningful work, smart colleagues, generous benefits

    Cons

short-sighted management want to boost profits each quarter and are too jumpy, don't seem able to plan long term or build for the future, so decisions are not always thought through well and the organization suffers

    Advice to Management

slow down, think big picture, crystallize your value proposition

I worked at BTS full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Tons of learning, wide array of industries, clients and project Fast pace, both demanding and engaging Exposure to senior levels of an organization Combines both analytical and soft skills Very interesting people, great and fun environment

    Cons

Can be overwhelming at times, work-life balance is not optimal If you need brand recognition or the fortune 500 big name you won't have it here, great portfolio of clients though Partners can be to distant from the day to day of consultants

    Advice to Management

Take care of the work-life balance of your employees Pay is not as competitive compared to the workload and the market
