I have been working at BUCA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly work environment, great money, flexible schedules, coworkers become like family, ability to pool tips with another employee in your section- almost like a buddy system so you can help each other out if you get weeded.

    Cons

This restaurant is a very popular place on Holidays, and they are open on all major holidays-even christmas. Large portion sizes require a lot of boxing food for customers, banquets require one server per 10 people which is sometimes unnecessary.

    Advice to Management

Someone has to work on Holidays, but it may be nice to offer incentives for working on major holidays and missing out on time with family.

I have been working at BUCA part-time

    Cons

The hours can be brutal if you let them step all over you.

    Advice to Management

Hope corporate listens to you someday.

I have been working at BUCA part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Typically, the people you work with are fun to be around and generate a little positivity in an otherwise negative environment

    Cons

They don't practice promoting from within- they will lead to a point where it would be a no brainer to promote you and then decide against it because they don't want to promote from within. The corporate offices are so concerned about making money that they don't take care of their management, therefore the management at my location doesn't care to take care of their employees. The company used to be a positive place to work for but after 4 years, I have run out of good things to say about Buca.

    Advice to Management

Promote from within- or be honest from the get go and don't advertise promoting from within, when it's something you don't practice. Also, money is obviously the sole reason any of us are working for a company but it's not everything. Buca will surely lose all its money if things continue to be ran the way that they are now. Care for your employees and in return, they will care, too.

    Pros

Coworkers/Guests are the best part of Buca.

    Cons

Unprofessional Management who are obviously unskilled.

    Advice to Management

Get real! Open your eyes to all of the scandalous bs that goes on!

I have been working at BUCA full-time

    Pros

Great product and atmosphere. Ability to move up or transfer around the country. They pay a little better salary than other companies. Overall it is an easy place to manage and a good place to work.

    Cons

They do not pay bonuses or pay their vendors. You will have to find multiple plumbers, electricians, and HVAC companies that are willing to work with poor payment history. They are open regular hours every holiday and you never get to spend holidays with your family.

    Advice to Management

Buca is a good company and a nice to work for. Pay your bills and adjust holiday hours to give your thousands of employees some personal time on the holidays.

I have been working at BUCA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Delicious food every day.

Great support from the CEO, HR, and DVP's.

Encouraged to manage your way to get the results desired.

    Encouraged to use your PTO.

    Cons

It can be hard to get approval for larger R&M even if it's critical. (Air conditioning)

Work ALL holidays. Be prepared to do 12+ hour shifts on most.

Last minute coupon offers that leave miniscule amounts of time to order/inform for proper execution. (Not all offers, but some)

    Advice to Management

Return to compensating your FOH and HOH staff with family meal and trainer meals. You are in a great position as a desirable place to work for highly skilled servers/line cooks, a reduction in passive incentives could be the difference in retaining or losing them.

You need to continue to attract the top tier workers for those positions. You don't want to become an Applebee's.
