    Pros

If you perform, they give you the latitude to think outside the box to build the brand.

    Cons

They really mess you over when you resign. I am out over $4000 in commissions and Flexible Spending for dependent care. As a single mom, that's pretty below the belt. Don't expect anything including final paychecks, commissions, or legal remedies. They will have you so tied up in paperwork that it's impossible to get what is owed you.

    Advice to Management

    People over profit.

    Pros

Friendly work environment. Buca seattle works hard to ensure that everyone gets along and that the restaurant maintains a friendly work environment

    Cons

There is a 28 hour cap so this job can really only serve as a part time gig. All employees are required to work all holidays.

    Advice to Management

My advice to corporate management would be to allow more employees to work 40 hours, allowing for a more stable job, which will aid in encouraging employees to invest more into the company and work there longer

I have been working at BUCA part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There is so much passion that goes into working in a restaurant not only in the kitchen but making sure that every guest that comes through the door becomes part of the Buca family. It's easy to go into work and leave, but it isn't too common to find a place that stays with you after you're gone. Buca leaves an impression and makes you feel happy to be a part.

    Cons

The stress of your company limiting hours to a maximum of 30 hours a week limits the ability of loyal employees and brings hardship when it comes to keeping the good, hardworking employees. It's hard to be a "Buca family" when we all can't be there working as a team. Also, there is the ten coupons constantly out in rotation at a time to guarantee each table has at least three and bombard their server on why they can't use them all, and when they finally give up, the server can't make it up enough to that table to make enough money to say it was worth it.

    Advice to Management

Management at my particular location is so supportive and cares about their employees and keeping that feeling of being part of the Buca family. I would say, however, our corporate office has never actually worked in a restaurant before and doesn't understand the impossible standards they have put on management as well as lower employees.

I worked at BUCA (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's one of the better work environments I've ever been a part of in the restaurant industry. The pay is probably considered in the upper-mid level range. The hours are much shorter than I've worked at other jobs, which was great with small kids. My time here was probably the most fun I've ever had at a job.

    Cons

There wasn't a whole lot of recognition for accomplishments. I also felt like the upward mobility was rather limited, although I could have just simply been unlucky in regards to that.

    Advice to Management

I didn't interact with upper management often, so I'd say it'd be nice to have more contact/input/feedback/etc. Expectations could be expressed a bit more clearly as far as what needs to be done for promotions.
