I have been working at BUCA full-time

    Pros

This is a fun work environment and the pay scale is extremely fair.

    Cons

The corporate office does not seem to care about their employees. Is it all about increasing sales with very little training offered by them. The upper management is not approachable and the work hours are long. 9-10 are days are not necessary.

    Advice to Management

Show the employees that you care more.

    I worked at BUCA part-time

    Pros

Depending on location, you get a lot of foot traffic and very busy holidays

    Cons

Corporate culture and inability to be provided necessary materials from upper management

I worked at BUCA full-time for more than a year

    Pros

High Salary Scale. General quality of hourly employees is quite good. Food quality is good, Recipe standardization and computer systems are relatively good.

    Cons

Be prepared to make everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) in your life secondary to this job. Open 365 days a year, and you will never get a holiday off. EVER. Salary is supposed to be augmented with what is promised to be a handsome bonus structure, but upper management was constantly changing the qualifications to the point that I never received a single bonus in the entire year...

    Advice to Management

When you are negotiating salary, you need an ironclad agreement, IN WRITING. And don't expect to be compensated for relocating. I had to jump through hoops just to get reimbursed for the moving truck. They expected me to eat the cost of breaking my old lease to be able to report for work in the new town.

I have been working at BUCA full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Coworkers are the only pros working at bucas.

    Cons

Blatant fraternization between management & upper management. Must be willing to Brown nose management if you want to work.

    I worked at BUCA full-time

    Pros

Not much to share as far as positives go.

    Cons

Others may have had better experiences as a Paisano, but mine was overly challenging. I went and entire year without a chef or staff manager, this led to very long hours and an unbearable work load. The issue I had was that my superiors' workload was incredible as well and no real focus or effort was adequate to lighten my burden. Eventually I became burned out and sought employment elsewhere. A positive note is that...

I have been working at BUCA for more than 5 years

    Pros

-Amazing co-workers. Seriously, the best part about this job is bonding with and maintaining a positive relationship with your staff. You get so much more out of them when you are respected and it translates into sales! -Food is pretty good in moderation. If it wasn't for the enormous amounts of calories, I'd love to eat it every day. -Pace is great if you like to lead by example. Being one of the top stores in the...

    Cons

-Benefit to hours ratio. Our salaried paychecks are displayed as 80 hours biweekly, however we work more than 100 hours bi-weekly and our insurance is EXPENSIVE. Getting 80 hour level insurance for working 100 hour level is tough. -Longer hours will strap you for time, leaving not much wiggle room to do anything else. It's extremely difficult to take classes, other jobs, or make plans because you can be called in at...

    Advice to Management

-Invest in your teams! We work unbelievably hard to make the higher ups look good. We deal with constant equipment going down, vendors not getting paid, and payroll issues. -Positive reinforcement is the BEST reinforcement.

I worked at BUCA part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The customers were my favorite part of the bartending job at Buca di Beppo. The customers were always friendly and fun.

    Cons

The Worst part of the job was the terrible management that was in place when I worked there. They hired unprofessional upper management and promoted people from within the restaurant to managers who never belonged being in charge.

    Advice to Management

    Hire more professional leaders

I have been working at BUCA full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great employees, fun atmosphere, some what friendly customers, employees have a great attitude towards new management. The job at times is rewarding.

    Cons

Upper management doesn't have a clue how each store is run. DVP only cares about numbers, not about the well being of employees or restaurant. DVP doesn't know how to hire quality chefs, management, and sales. Being promoted is easy if you want to work long hours for bad pay. I can't believe how fast we go through management in this company. They don't approve fixing the restaurant...

    Advice to Management

DVPs should have more meetings with AGM's and supervisors to have a better understanding in what each store is lacking. Every store is different, therefore he should invest in what is needed and not assume they knows everything.

    I worked at BUCA

    Pros

Managers allow employees to have flexible schedules.

    Cons

Things are always broken and upper management won't pay to have them fixed. Makes for anow unsanitary food service environment.

    Advice to Management

Spend money to get the essential things fixed to keep a business running properly.

I worked at BUCA full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Upon initial hire you feel like you are being well trained, with average pay, with good benefits. Some stores are excellent and professional, unfortunately I was not at one of them.

    Cons

Culture revolves around high turnover at all in-store positions. I was hired the same month as a member of the opposite sex, for the exact same position, by the same person, for a different location. The other hire was completely unprofessional and had no management experience. They were mouthy about their compensation, so I found out that it was several thousand more than my own. Completely inept boss barely...

    Advice to Management

If you send new hire management through months of ethics training, perhaps they should not be completely dismissed when reporting several acts of misconduct amongst staff. I found out later that some acts were never documented or reported to corporate.
