    I worked at Bacara Resort & Spa part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The setting was peaceful and the guests and members were great.

    Cons

    I had to answer to a supervisor that didn't even have a college degree and had zero experience. Co workers were bad mouthed by supervisors and other co workers. Friends of the supervisors were favored. There never was a happy/fulfilled vibe from anyone. I rarely heard anyone being uplifted or appreciated. Co workers spoke rudely to each other.

    Advice to Management

    Your employees need to be treated equally. Work on being approachable by your employees. More clear communication with procedures

    Pros

    Great location, excellent facilities, free lunch.

    Cons

    Turnover is nonstop and no effort to truly change it.

    Advice to Management

    Train your staff well enough that they can go anywhere, treat them well enough that they never want to leave.

    I have been working at Bacara Resort & Spa full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    There are some good employees, and the grounds are stunning.

    Cons

    Asking managers to come to Glassdoor to give a positive review is pretty classless. Corporate cuts everything to the bone. So many redundant programs and systems to learn makes you feel like a robot.

    Advice to Management

    Stop the micro managing, hold managers accountable, and fire them if they don't follow though. Hire salaried managers not just 50 hourly supervisors. If you staff the place like a airport hotel, you get that quality.

    Pros

    They paid well for Santa Barbara. Collegues were nice people. It's a pretty place to go to work.

    Cons

    A ruthless, New York real-estate mentality. Ownership enjoyed being cruel and making employees uncomfortable.
