I have been working at Back Yard Burgers part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Excellent food. Great variety. Managers understood me and worked well with me. Great, loyal customers. A lot of the crew worked well with me.

    Cons

Little to no benefits. Owners didn't pay attention to the workplace. The chain overexpanded, so there were fewer stores over the years. Some crewmembers were hard to train and didn't work well with us. Customers waited till the last minute to tell us about discounts.

    Advice to Management

Owners, make sure you help your restaurant succeed. Don't just use it as a moneymaker and neglect it. Make sure you hire crew that can do all you ask.

I have been working at Back Yard Burgers full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good experience- learned so much.

    Cons

No work/life balance- employees would call up until close, on days off, etc. No training offered. Was thrown in to the position(s). Will fire over phone from different state because DM is 2 states away.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees what they deserve. It is hard out there in this world. Includes crew AND management (GM!!!)

I have been working at Back Yard Burgers full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Easy to move up. Free food when you work if you make it to management. Lots of experienced managers to learn from. Get schedule one month in advance. Paid vacation after one year.

    Cons

Lots of weekends. Little incentive once you make it to management. No raises in over three years. Company has been in bankruptcy and closing stores.

    Advice to Management

Clean house when needed. Reward those who are actually doing their jobs.

    Pros

It is a good atmosphere for a beginer job. It can teach you the fundementals of the food service industry, and give you a working knowledge of fast food .

    Cons

Low pay scale, minimum wage, no raises or incentives unless you move up to a management position, and then the pay in insufficent for the increase in responsibility.

    Advice to Management

Give your good workers raises and get rid of the "seasonal" help, if you could give your good workers more hours and pay, it would be great.
