    Pros

B&C support your growth and help you with your career so long as you out in the effort and hard work. They dont give you something for nothing but are very supportive if you are committed and hard working. The people are great too

    Cons

Base salaries aren't the best and communication could be improved

    Advice to Management

    Work on communication

I worked at Badenoch & Clark full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Most there care about doing a good job for clients/candidates.

Good commission structure with little threshold.

Lots of long term connections with large companies.

Enough space and time given to grow your desk.

    Training and development offered frequently.

Salaries weren't bad at all and were regularly reviewed.

    Open and transparent promotion processes.

Monthly reviews that took place all the time and helped with development.

Opportunities to transfer internally and to work in other areas of the business.

Some very smart and experienced managers in the office.

    Invest in their staff.

Incentives for high billers are great.

Management pretty collaborative and open to ideas from the team.

Focus on team work and helping each other out.

    Cons

Flexible working would have been good but I believe this was being trialled soon after I left anyway.

    Sometimes complicated shared service processes.

Some regional offices could do with a bit of a spring clean.

I worked at Badenoch & Clark (More than 3 years)

    Pros

you can coast by without anyone really noticing

    Cons

    Everything.
It's a terrible company run by people with no emotional intelligence who are blinded by their own lack of outside experience.
There is no business acumen here... just endless spreadsheets and forecasts and lots of meetings which achieve nothing. Managers days are a total waste of time and tend to be patronising and demotivating in equal measures.
The company refuses to pay people properly - Associate Directors and Operations Directors earn very little (about half what their peers earn at competitors - but they stay at B&C because they don't have to do anything) which provides a disincentive to progression.
the quality of talent being hired at junior levels is embarrassing and due to the regular exodus of people, the business is not even getting close to maintaining any level of quality.

    Advice to Management

Get a job somewhere else... if you can... actually you probably can't.... just stay on the sinking ship as long as possible and hope you have saved enough money to tide you over while you re-train as a bus driver.

Really progressive towards flexible working - Part time, Flexible working hours etc.
    Hands-off management approach

    Cons

    Occasional corporate red tape.
    Quite 'London-Centric'

I have been working at Badenoch & Clark full-time

    Pros

There are some great people who I count as close friends.
The office is in a good location.
The permanent commission scheme is excellent - as good as any you can find at other firms.
The work-life balance is very good in comparison to the rest of the industry.

    Cons

Base Salaries are 30% below industry average and the contract commission scheme is poor and impossible to understand.
The senior leadership is severely lacking in talent and charisma and does very little other than budgeting and forecasting for the Adecco head office. The directors win zero business for the company and spend none of their time trying to recruit good junior consultants. They leave that to managers and the group internal recruitment function.
There is no real incentive to build a career for the long term as there is no ambition to create proper wealth for anyone other than the Adecco owners (i.e. there is no IPO or MBO on the horizon and no chance to earn equity).
A lot of good consultants and managers have left the company over the last four years so there are very few people to look up to and be inspired by.
The business is generic and can offer no thought-leadership beyond what the individual consultants are capable of.
There is a blame culture which starts at the very top of the business.
Meetings.... meetings about meetings about meetings and nothing ever gets done.
The technology infrastructure is ancient and useless and the compliance procedures make it almost impossible to quickly process a permanent placement - don't even bother trying to run a contract placement here.
The central services are useless - you can never get any quick help from marketing or legal so it can take months to approve a PSL.

    Advice to Management

Abandon any effort to grow into the commercial sectors and stick to profitable large public sector contract recruitment where you make loads of money and pay your consultants 9% commission on average.
