  1. "Good recruitment company"

    I worked at Badenoch & Clark full-time

    Pros

Good training, support and structure. Nice location and good branding and marketing. Good level of support from senior members

    Cons

Very target driven even if you are hitting financial targets. Bit of a boys club at times. Very messy and disorganised at times. Sometimes lacks planning.

    Advice to Management

Micro manage less. If you have a manager of a team let them manage and not get so involved with the actual team.

I worked at Badenoch & Clark full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Badenoch and Clark is an excellent company to work for. I worked at the MBH head office for over three years and had a brilliant, supportive manager who did his very best to fight my corner for important things such as a pay rise, a promotion, working from home etc.

As a company they offer lots of training for both employees new to recruitment with an academy in the Midlands as well as training at HQ for more experienced consultants.

I worked with a lot of autonomy and treated my desk as my own company. I was given the tools to do the job by my manager who treated me like an adult and left me, to all intents and purposes, to get on with the job of billing and cultivating my desk.

There are some superb people at B&C who I miss and I wish them all the best for the future. As for any future employees, this is an excellent place to work and to forge a strong career.

    Cons

B&C are not the best payers in the sector. Also, they have lost a lot of good people over the last year or so, there was a time when retention of staff was important but that seems to have been jettisoned.

    Advice to Management

Do more to retain the staff you have. I think the fact quite a lot of people have left the company says they can do more to keep those people engaged and, ultimately, happy in the job.

    Pros

good brand, and lots of support, 80% of management are great, not aggressive or into micro management. Perm commission structure is a good one

    Cons

lots of good people have moved on , no ambition to retain long servers and an air of uncertainty. Low salaries

    Advice to Management

don't go along with everything from group down - B&C is better than that! Pay people what you know they deserve

I have been working at Badenoch & Clark full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent training - you work with some of the best in the business, and have unrivalled networks across industry. Guy, who directs the Private Sector offering, is one of the best directors I've ever come across. A refreshing lack of 'cowboys'; the people here care about what they do and take pride in their work.

    Cons

Below market rate on salary, and lack of communication between departments means that individual managers are not aligned, culture- or expectation-wise. It seems like some individually strong billers are pushed into management which they may not want; these typically are not great leaders.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with each other more! Develop the natural leaders and not just the high billers.

I worked at Badenoch & Clark (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Decent salaries
    Decent bonus scheme
    Nice offices

    Cons

After B&C chasing me for well over a year to join them, I finally succumbed to their 3 stage process.

At the final stage I asked extensive questions about how I would be trained, as the team manager had just left and the sector proposed to me was nothing I had done before. I was reassured that I would be taken care of and was given details about the training scheme and who would be overseeing me, was then offered the job and told to go celebrate.

The Friday before starting (after I had handed in my notice) the offer was withdrawn as the Director felt I "needed too much market training" - something he had pointedly convinced me wasn't the case at the last interview. An incredibly unprofessional way of dealing with recruitment, from one of the world's biggest firms? Joke.

    Advice to Management

Don't behave with prospective employees in a manner that you wouldn't want your clients behaving with your candidates
