    Pros

Easy computer system to learn and very good product line offering. Great customer retention also with great marketing backup. And great overall communication.

    Cons

Central ordering through a distribution center by people who have no idea what your local stock levels should be. Limit of $250 for branch managers to buy goods without going through a buyer.

    Advice to Management

Allow branch managers more of a say in what their branch stocks and the levels of inventory. Also split up the larger zones into smaller ones.

I have been working at Baker Distributing full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I have enjoyed the freedom of my outside sales position in the Atlanta market. And I really enjoy the people I work with.

    Cons

At times it feels like Baker is just too big. It can take a long time to get things done. There are too many VP's in the corporate office.

    Pros

Hard working people. The company is going through a tremendous growth phase and new projects keep coming up. Managers treat you an adult and does not micro manage. Casual dress during the summer months and fridays during the other 9 months.

    Cons

Playing catchup with most things. The projects are not planned out and are impulse.

    Advice to Management

Office could use some updating. Add a tuition reimbursement program.

    Pros

    Good Co-workers
Good Customers/ You get the same customers regularly so you'll get to know all of them
    Good benefits

    Cons

Poorly managed. Multiple times issues arose because different parts of management disagreed with one another and both would try to slow the other down like children.

    Advice to Management

There's a reason there is chain of command. Make sure all employees follow it.

I have been working at Baker Distributing full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great room for advancement. Positions are always available due to growth or others moving around within the organization. Established brand that is respected in the industry.

    Cons

Customer service suffers due to lack of staff per corporate's guidelines. Technicians can easily visit or call any other competitor and immediately get their issues resolved in a timely manner due to more staff. It's that simple.

    Advice to Management

Loosen the reigns on staffing and employ enough personnel to cover absences. Trust the management more rather than micromanage. Their P & L and customer matrix will tell the whole story.

I worked at Baker Distributing full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible on hours depending on what department you are in. Casual dress for most of the year.
    Jeans on Friday's.

    Cons

Too many Upper management and not enough processors. Make sure you get everything in writing that pertains to you and your job here. Christmas party for employees was always in the hot warehouse. They will make up titles to hire a relative or person they know. They will not post jobs that are open so you can have room for advancement as an employee.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to recognize their employee's and that they do a great job for them. They also need to stop showing favoritism, it lowers the self esteem of other workers.
