    Pros

    Having a job in a bad economy. Outside of that, There are no good reasons to work in Baker Hughes IT right now.

    Cons

    IT Management from lower line managers to Directors are only interested in looking good to Vice Presidents and the next layer of the organizational structure so they can advance their careers. Upper Management is being told what sounds good not what is really going on. There are so many problems from full time employees being over worked to products being deployed with many issues just so a project deadline is met and someone can reap the "reward" of project completion. Managers are allowing flawed product deployment. They are turning their head and saying "I don't know" so there is no ownership of the problem.

    No longer a good organization to work for!

    Advice to Management

    Pay attention to employee surveys! You will more than likely find out what is going on in your IT organization.

    Pros

    You get President's Day off

    Cons

    BH only cares about their management and upper execs. They don't care about the other employees at all. You cannot find out who the correct person to talk to in HR to save your life. NOTHING is easy to accomplish at BH. If you have an HR problem you have to go to the intranet, dig around and try to figure it out yourself. BH does not pay anywhere near what other companies pay.

    Advice to Management

    Start listening to the staff, you know the regular people. Some of them actually know what they are talking about.

    I worked at Baker Hughes full-time

    Pros

    They provided us with a Ham for Thanksgiving, and closed the plant on Christmas. I didn't mind the 12 hour shift, but the rotating days and nights every week only added to the unhealthy environment.

    Cons

    Management does not know or care about their employees, and refuse to recognize those who go above and beyond their job description. Their actions are very hypocritical of those policies they enforce. We were all one big team until it came to bonus-time.

    Advice to Management

    Take the time to learn how to do the job of your subservient's, and learn to recognize and appreciate integrity.

    Pros

    OK if one is a game player

    Cons

    Their "attention to safety" is really a "rat out your coworker" program. Much computer-based and immaterial information is required on a monthly basis as well as "Observations" turned in. These could be anything from equipment problems to "I saw so-and-so doing his job correctly". Points were given for this to "safety teams" with a free feed awarded to the highest scoring team.

    Advice to Management

    Learn to respect your employees.

    Anyone with no experience or intelligence can make good money here..aka Mouth.

    Cons

    Underpaid-Unappreciated-Overworked-Micromanaged-Buddy System-Bribes-Corruption..20 words isn't enough to explain.

    Advice to Management

    Clean house on management at Sooner Road....just look at the turnover rate, moral. Before the downturn this was a very good company to work for now Canadian management MB has put all his robots in line to be the eyes and ears of the company. Just look around and ask anyone who has been there longer than 1 year what they really think....preferably over drinks; that's when you can get some real good feedback.

    pay is great 401k medical is ok

    Cons

    they do not care if you do your job better than anyone else even if you save them millions of dollars they do not recognize the person doing the job. they only notice if you make a mistake . then they fire you. after they realize the mistake that was made was them and not the ex-employee they cover up the mistake that cost the ex-employee so much more than a job! They have meetings for meetings and micro manage so they stress the employee to the limit while covering their own butts in the fine print! they expect loyalty but they have none to the employee or the ######.

    Advice to Management

    Stop diversification hire on merit not race. repeated anonymous complaints should be investigated to find the anonymous employee who is causing stress to the employees that work at work instead of watch everyone so they can tattle tail and cry baby. they do it because the working man is going to make more money the the watching man be productive and constructive not petty and destructive! stand up for your hard working employees and let the lazy watchers walk. it doesn't really matter since my husband is Halliburton now your loss BHI " Wife ex-employee" GO BIG RED!!!!

    Pros

    I have had experience with BH for over 8 years. Good healthcare, large company chance to move around if you are 'chosen'

    Cons

    In a bouyant market BH still seem unable to translate success into profit and are continually reorganising to cut costs and resources, leaving a very unsettled workforce. Experience is not rewarded, highfliers are.

    Advice to Management

    Admit strategy failings, get back to core business

    Pros

    A corporation being a self serving entity will generally guarantee stockholders a fairly decent profit as long as they realize this type of management will be fairly short lived.

    Cons

    This type of management is generally accomplished by monopolizing on the work done by the non-management employees. The employees who generate the income will suffer from the excesses of the upper level management - who generally do not generate any capital for the company. This will last only as long as it takes for the better and more seasoned employees to find another job. By doing this it will strip the corporation of their experienced employees and generally leave them short of people to do the work. This will cause them to start losing market share which in turn will cause them to start losing revenue and the value of the stock will drop.

    Advice to Management

    Start treating your field employees with the respect they deserve. Be honest with your employees. You push ethics but then you do not practice them when it comes to dealing with your own employees. You maintain upper level management salaries while cutting the salaries of the people who actually earn the revenue. While the employees you are mistreating may not have an "earth science" degree, they aren't stupid. There are many reasons they didn't get their degrees. But they are still highly trained and qualified and many will be leaving the company as soon as they find another job.

    Pros

    They do care about their customers but planning is failing across the board.

    Cons

    Poor management if that is what you call it. Poor planning, barely functioning. Some are great there, but management is clueless on how to really manage a team. Destructive team culture is allowed to thrive.

    Advice to Management

    Implement new technologies better, do some real management of personnel, routes, etc.
