I worked at Baker Hughes full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great pay, cafeteria and short commute.

    Cons

Very few employees had work experience outside the company. No room for advancement due to 25-30+ year employees and no change/innovation on business processes.

    Advice to Management

Hire and advance mid-career professionals!!! Gen X specifically. The cross roads of leadership, technology and growth have met and Baker is far behind integrating all 3!!!

    Pros

Great organization to work for. They will cut fat when it needs cutting, but if you can effectively perform your job function with a good attitude it's a great place to work. Great money and big raises if you stick around.

    Cons

A very demanding work environment, often forcing you to place a very high priority on work. This is more so a con of oilfield work than Baker Hughes in particular.
