Great pay, but waterfall, political culture, years behind the curve in technology and any internal business services

      Pros

Great pay, great location, intelligent people

      Cons

Super political. Research law firm culture. All they say about law firms is true, at all levels of organization. They are reorganizing. That means any internal role is supposed to cover the work of 3 people, to cut costs.

      Pros

This is a large law firm with offices around the globe. Being able to work together with administrative staff from other offices and cultures was a great experience. There are a lot of very smart, talented attorneys here.

      Cons

Staff in all departments are stressed, under a lot of pressure and constant deadlines that are unrealistic. They like to outsource everything that they can while leaving the local employees in charge of catching mistakes, work overload, hounding supervisors, unhappy employees abound, huge lack of transparency on many levels, a hostile work environment.

      Shocking exit

      Pros

At time was biggest law firm in world. Paid me full benefits (17 total) for part-time work. One employee walked by my desk daily saying the firm was so lucky to have me.

      Cons

I worked Fridays with staff but Saturdays Sundays and holidays alone at office (as well as on-call for absences) as overflow for up to 77 offices worldwide. There is a 24-7 overflow office in Malaysia but I was discouraged from using it. So many in my hallway quit or were terminated that others joked that I chased them away. Then I received a PIP when I thought I would get a raise after working 18 days in a row including weekends. High turnover particularly for this position. To boot I did not have weekly training offered as other employees did who worked Mon-Thu regularly.

      Pros

Nicer people than you find in most firms; chance to work on international projects.

      Cons

Like most large law firms it is a revolving door and management does not always clearly explain decisions to rank-and-file. There has been an obvious shift in priorities in the last two years, and morale among associates and staff is suffering as a result.

      Pros

The pros of working at Baker McKenzie were with the incredible and dynamic chemistry with my team, my experience with white glove treatment that I accumulated through working with partners from the law firm, and the hands on experience I learned with cutting-edge and high-end audio/Visual software and hardware.

      Cons

Thre were no cons from working at Baker McKenzie.

      Pros

It's a global law firm, with a vast network. Clients are top notch. Good people work here.

      Cons

It's a big law firm, so there's a lot of pressure to bill hours from regional levels.

      Pros

Baker has great benefits, conference rooms overlooking the White House, and senior-level partners in tax, immigration and corporate that have many amazing policy and government contacts and sterling reputations.

      Cons

As with most Big Law Firms, billable hours are highly encouraged to be over 2,600 hours at D.C. (not N.Y.C. or Chicago) pay. Expect to put in a lot more work than that if you want to last, although your opportunities for professional growth will be nonexistent.

Good place to work for with many interesting deals across borders and massive amount of investment. intelligent and competitive colleagues.

      Cons

Work life balance. required to work during weekend but it is a typically international law firm which is similar in everywhere, especially in an American law firm.

      Pros

Money per hour because it is an upscale and distinguished Law Firm.

      Cons

Commute on Metrorail in both the morning and evening sucks. Would like 1/2 hour lunch and be able to leave at 5:00.
