Not a good place for non-attorney staff

      Pros

Experienced hires can command good salaries. Good job security. HR did mitigate issues between attorney staff and non-attorney staff when they arose. The partner I worked for was open to reasonable changes and helped maintain a lean team that was not too overworked.

      Cons

Boring work. long hours, bad pay. Once again, most of the issues could be traced to my partner who was an incompetent attorney and an incompetent leader.

      Pros

Chance to work on big, complex transactions, thus learning a lot and getting exposure as a young associate. Excellent job atmosphere. Good professional development opportunities.

      Cons

Very long hours, although to be fair this is characteristic of all private corporate law practices. There are natural tensions between older partners that have been there through thick and thin, and young partners that currently do the heavy lifting and feel they deserve a better compensation.

      Pros

Plenty of challenging and difficult work, but overall friendly and collegial co workers who knew what they were doing and were willing to mentor.

      Cons

Expect long hours as an attorney, but that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone given the scope of work and type of firm. Also, given the size of the firm, you can feel like a peon in the overall picture.

Overall, a rewarding, yet challenging, place to work.

      Pros

Interesting assignments, stellar client list, friendly colleagues, competitive salaries and benefits, pleasant surroundings.

      Cons

Work/life balance is a challenge with long hours and unpredictable work schedule. Lack of meaningful communication from management. Too many management layers for administrative staff positions results in overloaded staff.

      Cons

Very long hours-coming home around 9pm is considered normal, many employees eat lunch in room and very little team projects which create somewhat lonely atmosphere
