I have been working at Baker Tilly Virchow Krause full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1. The people are okay
    2. Pay is okay depending on which group you’re in (at least it’s alright for the first year...)
    3. Hours as a consultant aren’t too bad. It averages about 40-45 hours a week. Maybe up to 50-55 hours a week depending on the case load during the week.
    4. You learn much more rapidly in Advisory and are exposed into different industries.
    5. The work is value-added generally in Advisory and not b/s work like in audit or tax.
    6. The office location is extremely convenient - right across Penn station.

Overall, it’s an okay first job. Definitely wouldn’t stay there long-term though.

    Cons

    1. There is a lack of transparency between upper management and their ongoing policies.
    2. Raises are a joke
    3. HR is only there to protect upper management (BUT they are very Nice).
    4. High turnover exists because after 2-3 years Baker Tilly pays a salary below market average.
    5. They seem to be cutting benefits with each passing year.
    6. Diversity in the NYC is terrible. They’re only just beginning to start a Diversity program, but their efforts aren’t being reflected as they are still not hiring many minorities in Senior and Staff positions.

I.E: It’s an okay place to work at for 1-3 years until you find something better.

    Pros

    Nice office facility, small culture

Ineffective mid-management. Onboarding is practically non-existent. Comp ratio well under industry average
