    Pros

The work is challenging and rewarding. Good benefits, extremely lenient policies.

    Cons

Little support or direction from hr on employee issues.

    Advice to Management

Focus efforts on people who care about their jobs. Stop rewarding bad behavior with more leniency.

    I worked at Baker & Taylor full-time

    Pros

Free books, movies, access to media trends, great customers

    Cons

Horrible morale, rude and highly ineffective management, very clique-ish for a library company, pay is not competitive at all, doesn't matter what direction the company takes towards progress and technology, the good old boys make it a very unattractive company.
A company holiday breakfast is all they do for all employees. Boring.

    Advice to Management

Retire, get sharper minds in leadership, squash the cliques, make work less boring

I have been working at Baker & Taylor full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pros are that there is a lot of flexibility in my department, and I absolutely enjoy everyone I work with. My Boss is the greatest I have ever had, HR is understanding; great flexibility, as I said, but PTO is low and you accrue 2.5 or 3.5 hours every pay period, where as most other companies give you sick time, a floater, and automatic two weeks vacation at the start of every fiscal year.

    Cons

PTO is seriously lacking, and the Occurrence (Unscheduled Absence/Scheduled Absence) need to be revisited. If you are late for work 5 minutes, you cannot make the up the five minutes because the Clock goes in 30 minute interval and then you get a half occurrence (which is like a tardy mark. Half and Full) but if I am thirty minutes late, I can make up the time and avoid the Half Day Tardy.

Career Option depends on what department you are in.

The Insurance is a joke. Most of the Doctors around us don't even take it, and those that do are hours away. Management is all for stating that company values its employees, but they can't spring for Health Insurance that actually takes care of you. There is medicines that I need, but cannot get, because our Insurance will not cover it, or only covers a minuscule percent.

The pay is mediocre. There are people in Atlanta making twice as much in entry level positions.

    Advice to Management

The best way to appreciate us and our hard work are not banquets every year, but real Health Insurance, like Blue Cross Blue Shield. To show you care, help keep us healthy.

    Reevaluate compensation.

Reevaluate PTO and Make Up Time.

    Pros

Most co-workers are pleasant to work with. Health benefits and incentive pay once a month. Holidays paid off.

It's a warehouse so it's hot. Hard work. Walking 8+ miles a day. Lifting pushing pulling boxes full of books.

    Advice to Management

    I worked at Baker & Taylor full-time

    Pros

If you live nearby and have a car it's not bad. My manager was super supportive and let me have a good amount of autonomy, but at the same time I always knew I could ask him for help.

    Cons

Sometimes trying to get things done or fixed felt like banging my head against a wall. Also the offices themselves are pretty depressing. Not as many benefits as I was used to at other employers.
