I have been working at Baker & Taylor full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Some very dedicated and knowledgeable employees

    Cons

No room for advancement. Too many VPs, Senior VP's, head honchos...they get all the pay and best benefits. Not an attractive workplace (needs fresh paint, carpets are stained, lots of broken chairs, dirty cubicle walls)

    Advice to Management

    Spruce up the offices

    Pros

I worked with an incredible team of bright people while at B&T. Good benefits and salary.

    Pros

Good company to work for great benefits if you can manage to stay until you start accumulating vacation time. Better company to work for than some.

    Cons

Some management have picks if they decide they don't want you they will set you up to fell. Management does not know how to praise for good work only negative feedback.

    Advice to Management

Treat your older employees with respect they don't have to be belittled like that will make them work harder.

    Pros

Interesting industry with lots of opportunities to learn and work across departments. My manager is not a micro-manager and gives us a lot of latitude to do our jobs as we see fit. We have lots of a fun as a team and enjoy working together.

    Cons

The benefits are lacking. Low PTO and less than stellar insurance. The benefits don't align well with an evolving, younger workforce. My manager promotes life/work balance and gives us some flexibility that other departments don't have.

    Advice to Management

Evolve the company benefit structure to help retain and attract talent. Additional PTO would go a LONG way.
