I worked at Bakersfield College part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It is a great way to make extra money while getting a degree. You also keep the things you are tutoring fresh in your mind for other classes. It helps you get into the work environment mode before graduating.

    Cons

If you have a background it will take some work to get to be an employee. They will question and make you feel horrible about your past and question if you can get a job after you get a degree. just keep fighting.

I worked at Bakersfield College full-time

    Pros

The only popular school providing CNA, Paramedics,VN and RN program and easy to get into

    Cons

The whole department runs on an autocratic rule of Dean whose philosophy of teaching is stuck with 100 years old faculties. New ideas are not welcome, academic freedom is next to nothing and people are loaded with endless units to teach. Faculty turnover is high even though benefits are good. Looks very inviting atmosphere in the beginning but its a hell hole of dirty politics

    Advice to Management

Be empathetic to faculties and polite to students

  10. "Tutoring Position"

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

Got to work with students who were actually interested in making their lives go somewhere. Introduced to a diversity of backgrounds and majors.

    Cons

Sometimes students would not show up. People are always hit-or-miss with how much they want to learn in a given session. Language barriers got in the way.
