I worked at Baldor Electric full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great company to work for. Very focused on maintaining a a stable work culture. Good work/life balance.

    Cons

Closed a few plants, mine being one of them after being bought out by ABB. Not sure of the new direction of the company now.

I worked at Baldor Electric full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    A (very, very small) paycheck

    Cons

    - Since ABB took over, management cares only about making money.
    - Offices are basically franchised, so cross your fingers you get a decent boss (I did not. I barely had a human being as a boss)
    - The company still runs in the stone age. Basic office supplies are always in short supply and heavy demand. Methods of bookkeeping are dated and chaotic, for example, still keeping stock of school notebooks to write down phone calls you receive. It's 2018, that should all be automated and easily recallable on the computer... but their systems... oh their systems... their computer systems look, feel, and act like they're the hottest thing to come out of 1991.
    - The work of inside sales is tedious, strenuous, and completely under appreciated. They're the epitome of overworked and underpaid.
    - The offices are full of their fair share of gossip, nepotism, and red-tape politics.
    - There's so much more, but honestly I'm tired of even wasting thought on this place

    Advice to Management

Go find literally any other company to manage, because this relic is of a very different, archaic age.

    Pros

they offer competitive benefits, profit sharing

    Cons

poor upper management, no diversity in workforce, all managers are older white men, they claim no layoffs but have laid off many employees and closed R&D center

I worked at Baldor Electric full-time

    Pros

Good job, good benefits and good people.

    Cons

Management brings personal believes into day to day management. No chances for advancement, UNLESS you know the right people in HR and mgmt.

    Advice to Management

Leave personal believes and business at home.

I have been working at Baldor Electric full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Ability to experience new things and learn a lot about motors. There are some very kind and intelligent people that work here. The pay is pretty good for the area.

    Cons

The overtime is ridiculous, (especially for salaried production). We don't receive the "tools" we need to do our job efficiently which is extremely stressful when required to hit certain numbers and hold people accountable. I'm getting burned out and I'm not the only one. It feels like the dirt is pouring in faster than I can dig it out much of the time.

    Advice to Management

Continue to 6S, I mean REALLY 6s, make sure everyone is doing what their departments are supposed to be doing, do more QSE and quit putting an entire problem in one departments lap (production, engineering, quality) we are in this together!!! Production cant do their jobs if the processes are crap, engineering cannot do their job if production won't make time for improvements etc..

I have been working at Baldor Electric full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great management with excellent leadership, good coworkers who work together as one unit to efficiently and safely put together a quality product.

    Cons

It takes between 3 to 18 months to get hired on from the temp agency Baldor uses. Depending on how bad they need you determines how fast you are hired on to full-time employee.

    Advice to Management

Listen to those that work on the line and deal with the machines/machine problems on a daily basis, rather than a few of your engineers. Besides that keep up the good work.

I have been working at Baldor Electric full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

One good thing about this company is that they have been in business for a 100 years. This helps creat stability.

    Cons

The bad thing is just like so manny other manufacturers, the jobs are slowly being replaced by cheaper labor or robots.

    Advice to Management

Place more value in your employees. When they are treated as though they are not wanted there it really deflates one’s eagerness to put. A lot of effort into their job.
