It was fine...until it wasn't
Mar 6, 2023 - Materials and Process Engineer I in Broomfield, CORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The work is fun and super fast paced. Typically you're working on multiple programs. It's great experience for furthering your career elsewhere. The individual people are pretty cool. It's a good stepping stone for your career and a good place to make connections.
Cons
The government continually gaslighting them with contracts ends with a feast or famine mentality with workload. The company refuses to become more progressive with pay and benefits, continually saying that they've surveyed the industry, and they're still competitive. They always reference the culture, but with hiring of influential people from big aerospace, the culture has morphed into something nebulous and toxic. As a junior level engineer, the only way to get ahead there is to find another job and hope they'll match the pay.

Abuse, Discrimination, Harassment of Female Engineers
Dec 5, 2022 - EngineerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Flexible work schedule and work from home opportunities.
Cons
The most horrible company to work for as a female engineer. This company violates all the employment laws and promotes a toxic workplace environment. Management and HR encourage and promote a culture of abuse, harassment, discrimination and retaliation against female employees. Misogyny, racism, intimidation, backstabbing, bullying, shaming, scapegoating employees by management are standard and common business practices. Incompetent, unprofessional, unethical, dishonest managers and matrix managers, part of the same religious cult, ignore all the company's policies and use the performance reviews to frame and discriminate against employees. Unqualified, abusive, stubborn, insecure project engineers with mechanical engineering background and no coding experience are assigned to software projects. Mediocre engineers with history of abuse are promoted as chief engineers because of their family connections in the company. EMPLOYEES BE AWARE: all ethics complaints filed through the company's ethics website go to HR. Basically, the website is used by HR as an effective tool for maliciously targeting the employees. If you encounter any type of discrimination, abuse, harassment, don’t hesitate to also contact law enforcement agencies like OFCCP, CCRD, EOCC, etc. Get familiar with the employment laws and stand up for your legal rights. Always post your negative experience for others to see. Don’t expect that HR or management would solve your problems. They won’t. They will only conduct "investigations" to damage your reputation and to make sure you don’t have legal claims against the company.

Exciting technology, large portfolio, great coworkers

Management has shifted from an employee focus to profit first. The culture is heading down and turnover is increasing. They expect a lot from a singular employee

Once great but things changed quickly
Oct 19, 2022 - Manufacturing Engineer in Westminster, CORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great engineers that know their stuff. Lots of opportunity for projects. Flexible work schedule is very nice.
Cons
Poor culture. Managers are disconnected and not collaborative. Top down management which achieves poor results then blames the people tasked with execution. In the last 3 years, I've seen 16 front line managers cycle out of positions because middle managers would blame them for problems, not compensate them, etc. Some of these people were extremely competent and most now work for other companies. Long-term outlook doesn't look good. No training. I received a list of training programs but received no oversight or mentorship from my boss until replaced by a new manager from an outside company. Value Stream Manager was basically absent until problems occurred. Then showed up and started blaming the new manager that was actually doing things and helping people. The Value Stream Manager blamed all the problems on the new manager that had been in the role 3 months, micro-managing, and killing moral. All of the manufacturing engineers are looking externally. Some even openly disclose it.

Good coworkers, too much focus on “culture” and low pay
Jul 11, 2022 - Mechanical Engineer 1 in Boulder, CORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Flexible work hours Good coworkers Great PTO Pension (if you started before 2021)
Cons
The pay is laughably low now. I am currently underpaid by $20k from the average for my experience in this area despite being told I’m a rockstar and top performer. I’ve been told a promotion is coming for months but have yet to see it despite my workload increasing exponentially. You either have way too much work or nothing to do, no in between. A lot of the work is heritage so not new design and it gets boring. Promotions are ridiculous. You have to meet “time and grade” which means coasters and top performers get promoted at the same time. No chance to negotiate your raise with said promotion and you’re expected to already be working at the next level before getting promoted (aka they can underpay you for the work you do). Turnover is super high right now and we keep getting told our culture is what sets us apart. Our culture is non existent. All of the cool events that used to make Ball Ball either don’t happen or are drastically different now. You can easily tell who has been hired in the last 2 years vs who has been around longer. No one can tell you what our culture is because it doesn’t really exist. The 401k is pretty standard if you have a pension and not competitive with the other big aerospace players. Parental leave is laughably bad.
